Automotive Test Engineer
About the Role
As a Senior Test Engineer, you'll take ownership of testing related systems used to validate electric motor components. Working closely with the Lead Test & Simulation Engineer, VP Engineering, and CTO, you'll design, develop, and manage test facilities, rigs, and software to ensure the products meet the highest technical and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage dyno test facilities and schedules.
- Plan and execute verification, validation, teardown, and benchmarking tests.
- Design and commission test jigs, fixtures, and system architectures.
- Develop and implement NI LabVIEW code for testing electric drive systems.
- Produce detailed technical reports, analyse test data, and ensure compliance with engineering standards.
- Conduct root cause analyses and drive corrective actions.
- Mentor and supervise junior test engineers.
- Maintain test equipment calibration and ensure all activities adhere to policies.
- Support cross-functional teams (Mechanical, Electronics, Firmware, Integration) with verification and validation tasks.
- Recommend and implement improvements to test efficiency, accuracy, and automation.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree: BEng/BSc in Electronics, Embedded Systems, or Electro-Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Experience: Proven track record in testing electro-mechanical systems-ideally within automotive or similar sectors.
- Skilled in writing technical reports and working to verification and validation procedures.
- Strong understanding of electronics measurement principles and data acquisition.
- Proficiency with NI PXIe systems, NI LabVIEW, and data analysis tools such as MATLAB.
- Knowledge of DSP, FFT, sampling theory, and measurement synchronisation.
- Familiarity with mechanical/electrical test rig design and commissioning.

- Full UK driving licence and ability to travel as required.
