Project Overview

Copello are supporting a leading Defence company in their search for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer. They are delivering a high-profile, business-critical programme that has been running for the past year and has strong potential to transform the organisation.

The project team consists of 25 multi-disciplinary engineers across software, systems, electronics and firmware. The focus is on developing advanced products that protect GPS systems against jamming.

The product is currently at advanced prototype stage, with significant work required to transition from prototype to full production and real-world deployment.

The Role

We are seeking a Embedded Software Engineer to join the team.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

  • Provide embedded software expertise within an ARM-based environment.
  • Lead architecture, design and development activities across complex embedded systems.
  • Work with trusted frameworks and contribute to robust, production-ready system architecture.
  • Remain technically hands-on while guiding best practice and engineering standards.
  • Coordinate software activities across the wider 25-person multi-disciplinary engineering team.
  • Drive delivery from prototype maturity through to production deployment.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with the System Design Authority.
  • Collaborate with electronics and firmware engineering peers.
  • Engage with the Head Engineer from another business unit to ensure alignment and integration.

Essential Experience

  • Strong experience with ARM-based processors.
  • Proven experience working with STMicroelectronics devices.
  • Background in complex systems architecture and trusted frameworks.
  • Experience delivering embedded products from development through to production.

Candidate Profile

  • Senior-level, dynamic and driven individual capable of energising and leading a team.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Comfortable operating in a highly critical, high-impact environment.
  • Experience within smaller businesses preferred.
  • British-born (requirement as specified).
