Lead Software Engineer
Lead .NET Developer
Location: Leeds (hybrid, around 2 days onsite) Salary: Up to £80,000 + benefits
I'm working with a software house that is investing in a brand new development strategy. They want someone who can take ownership of evolving their platforms, modernising their tech stack, and helping to shape a growing engineering function.
This is a hands-on lead role where you'll work across multiple products and applications, guide a small existing team, and set the technical direction for new and ongoing projects. There's a lot of freedom to influence how things are built, delivered and supported.
What you'll be doing
- Designing and developing new applications across a range of platforms and products.
- Owning the full delivery process including architecture, development, testing, deployment and documentation.
- Embedding agile ways of working using Scrum and sprint cycles.
- Shaping a modern Azure environment using C#, .NET, SQL Server, microservices, Kubernetes and Azure App Service.
- Making sure systems are scalable, secure and easy to monitor.
- Helping define what the future team looks like and taking a role in its growth.
- Working with stakeholders to understand needs and shape the technical roadmap.
What they're looking for
- Strong background as a senior or lead-level .NET developer.
- Skilled in C#, .NET, SQL Server and Azure services.
- Experience with microservices and ideally Kubernetes.
- Comfortable working in an agile environment.
- Some experience making architectural or design decisions.
- Exposure to a variety of application types and platforms.
- Understanding of monitoring and observability tooling.
- Some leadership experience, whether direct line management or mentoring.
- Confident working with and challenging external suppliers.
- Practical mindset, comfortable working through legacy and improving things step by step.
Why this could be a good move
- A brand new role with room to influence decisions and ways of working.
- Chance to rebuild platforms instead of patching existing ones.
- Solid support from the wider organisation.
- Hybrid working from Leeds.
- Flexible working hours and a friendly team culture.
