Senior Engineer (Backend/DevOps) - 12-Month Contract | Manchester (Hybrid)

A global financial services leader is seeking a Senior Engineer to build secure, scalable Back End services and modern AWS infrastructure. This is a hybrid role (3 days per week in Manchester) and pays up to £600p/d inside ir35.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices using Node.js and NestJS.
• Implement robust error handling, logging and testing (unit, integration, mocking).
• Build and automate AWS infrastructure with Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Develop and enhance CI/CD pipelines for microservice deployments.
• Embed DevSecOps best practices across IAM, networking and compliance.
• Improve performance, reliability, and observability with CloudWatch, Datadog or Prometheus.
• Collaborate with Agile teams to deliver high-quality, secure software at scale.

Key Skills:

• Strong Node.js/NestJS and REST API development experience.
• Skilled in AWS (IAM, networking, ECS/EKS, Lambda).
• Proficient with IaC, CI/CD and Scripting (Python, TypeScript, Bash).
• Hands-on with Docker/Kubernetes and modern authentication tools (Auth0, Ping Identity).
• Committed to code quality, testing and clean engineering practices.
• Excellent communicator and team collaborator.
