Senior Application Support Engineer - London - Hybrid - Permanent - £70,000 + Up to 30% bonus - Financial Services
A UK based Specialist Financial Services organisation are looking for a Senior Application Support Engineer with proven experience in a support engineering role, ideally within financial services or a similarly regulated environment. The successful candidate will provide expert technical support and maintenance for critical applications, ensuring high performance. This role requires strong hands-on experience across a broad range of technologies, including Microsoft and web technologies, to troubleshoot, resolve incidents, and collaborate with development and infrastructure teams. You will play a key role in supporting and enhancing applications, working closely with stakeholders to meet business needs in a fast-paced, hybrid working environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide second and third-line support for complex application issues, ensuring timely resolution and minimal business impact.
• Collaborate with development teams to diagnose and fix software defects, including coding where necessary.
• Manage and maintain application environments, including deployment, configuration, and performance tuning.
• Monitor application health and proactively identify potential issues.
• Support integration points such as RESTful APIs and containerised environments.
• Participate in incident management, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain clear and comprehensive technical documentation.
• Engage with stakeholders to understand requirements and provide technical guidance.
Skills
• Proven experience in a support engineering role, preferably within financial services or regulated environments
• Strong coding skills in C# (comfortable with coding)
• Experience with Microsoft Technologies: VB, .NET Core, Azure, SQL Server, IIS, Windows Server
• Proficient in Web Technologies: React, RESTful APIs, Docker, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
• Application troubleshooting and incident management
• SQL querying and database support
• Knowledge of cloud platforms, especially Microsoft Azure
• Experience with containerisation and orchestration tools
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

• Azure Cloud Services (including AKS)

• IIS (Internet Information Services)

Certifications & Standards
