The Role

The Embedded Electronic Systems Engineer will take full ownership of the FPGA subsystems and control firmware that connect photonic compute hardware to real-world platforms and customer integrations. 

This means leading FPGA architecture and development for inference pipelines, sensor interfacing, and real-time processing, as well as building firmware.

This is a deep-tech company working at the intersection of photonics and AI. The team runs a trust-based, values-led environment where ownership is real and the work genuinely matters.

The role is hybrid remote, based from their Glasgow offices.

The Role

The ideal Embedded Electronic Systems Engineer will have some of the following:

  • A strong background in electronic engineering, embedded systems, computer engineering, or similar

  • Hands-on experience with FPGA architecture, implementation, and hardware debugging

  • Fluency in Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL, along with practical PCB design and layout skills

  • Familiarity with protocols such as PCIe, SPI, I2C, UART, or LVDS is welcome, as is any background in AI accelerators, edge computing, or mixed electronic-optical systems.
