UX Designer, Figma, Content-Heavy Platforms, to £420 per day outside IR35
A UX Designer opportunity has arisen with an established UK-based medical publishing business, working on a significant platform rebuild project across a suite of specialist digital products. Could this be the contract role where your UX expertise genuinely shapes how clinical professionals access and engage with education content?
The Role
The UX Designer will take ownership of translating a detailed internal requirements brief into a structured, evidence-led digital experience, determining what should be prioritised for launch, what follows in later phases, and what should be deprioritised altogether. You will plan user flows and site maps, conduct and synthesise user research, and produce wireframes and prototypes to developer-handover standard in Figma. The UX Designer will work collaboratively alongside an in-house CTO, development team, and web design resource, bringing independent judgement and a clear evidence base to product decisions. This is an initial 12-week contract at approximately three days per week, beginning September 2026, with the final scope agreed once you have reviewed the existing brief.
The Company
This is a well-established, remote-first publishing business operating in the medical education space, serving a global professional audience through a suite of specialist digital platforms. The company has an in-house technical team in place and is at an exciting point of infrastructure modernisation, bringing in focused external expertise to complement their existing capability.
What experience does the UX Designer need?
- Solid UX design experience at a senior level, including wireframing and prototyping to developer-handover standard in Figma
- Proven ability to take broad or conflicting requirements and shape them into a prioritised, phased product scope, backed by user research you have conducted and synthesised yourself
- A background working on content-heavy, media, education, or search-led digital products, ideally alongside in-house engineering teams, with solid mobile-first and responsive design practice
- Experience with healthcare, medical, or professional B2B audiences is highly desirable, as is familiarity with video or streaming platform UX and AI-assisted or conversational search experiences
Benefits
- Initial 12-week contract - outside IR35 - approximately three days per week
- Fully remote working with only occasional travel to London
- Genuine scope to shape the direction of a significant platform rebuild from an early stage
- Final engagement scope agreed collaboratively once you have reviewed the existing brief
