Medicines Management and Finance Pharmacy Technician

Working Full time: 37.5 hours per week
The Countess of Chester Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic pharmacy technician to join the Medicines Management Team.
The successful applicant will be required to provide accurate and detailed data relating to medicines finance and will regularly communicate with suppliers to resolve discrepancies with invoices. You will support the wider pharmacy team in the delivery of agreed Cost Improvement Program (CIP) switches and be responsible for managing off- contract claims processes.
Working with colleagues from pharmacy procurement, finance, IT and the homecare team you will provide medicines management support for the Trust and external customers.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop your technical skills further. Experience in pharmacy purchasing, finance, homecare services or pharmacy IT systems would be an advantage but is not essential.
Main duties of the job
To assist in the provision of financial services relating to medicines use for the Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Responsible for the monitoring and analysing of financial data provided to internal and external sources.
To support the Medicines Management Team in implementing approved policies and procedures relating to the use of medicines.
To perform a variety of pharmaceutical technical duties relating to the procurement, preparation, dispensing and supply of medicines.
To co-operate with all pharmacy staff in providing and developing an efficient and comprehensive pharmaceutical service under the direction of senior pharmacy management.

o The Countess of Chester Hospital: providing 473 general and acute beds.o Ellesmere Port Hospital: providing 60 beds as a rehabilitation, intermediate and outpatient facility.o Tarporley War Memorial Hospital: a base for community services which serve the local rural population.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Service / BTEC certificate in Pharmaceutical Science or equivalent
- Registered Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC
- BTEC Professional Development Certificate in Dispensing Technician Checking or equivalent
- Team leading or management qualification
Knowledge
- Understanding of pharmacy purchasing and/or Homecare medicines services
- Understanding of current legislation and guidance documents affecting hospital pharmacy service especially purchasing and distribution of medicines
- IT experience in pharmacy purchasing systems, PC and office software
- Experience in finance, procurement, homecare or medicines management
- Experience in audit
- Understanding of NHS Finance
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritise work to meet deadlines
