Job summary

The Head of Population Health Data will lead the strategic development and operational delivery of population health analytics, health inequalities intelligence, and fair access analysis across the organisation and wider Integrated Care System (ICS). As a member of the Informatics Senior Leadership Team this role will deputise for the Head of Informatics as and when required

The role will play a critical leadership function in supporting NHS Fair Access Frameworks, Core20PLUS5 priorities, health inequalities programmes, and population health management initiatives through advanced analytics, integrated datasets, and evidence-based intelligence.

Working collaboratively with clinical, operational, public health, commissioning, and digital teams, the postholder will ensure data is used proactively to identify unmet need, variation in access, service inequity, and opportunities for targeted intervention across Adult and Children's services.

The Head of Population Health Data will play a central role in enabling the organisation and wider healthcare system to better understand, monitor, and address health inequalities through high-quality population health intelligence, fair access analysis, and data-driven transformation initiatives that improve outcomes for local communities.

Main duties of the job

To deputise for the Head of Informatics when necessary and contribute to the Informatics senior management team.

To manipulate and analyse highly complex data by using expert technical knowledge and skills in Access, Excel and additional data management tools i.e. SQL, TMI or multi-dimensional tools

To have well developed knowledge and be the Trusts expert lead on local and national data standards, definitions and datasets and returns

To support the Head of Informatics in the management and development of the interface between operational services, the clinical system ( EPR team) and the wider informatics team

To develop and implement effective and efficient population health management monitoring practices

Develop effective working relationships with internal and external colleagues, partner organisations and regulatory bodies.

Work closely with service users, carers and other representatives to ensure that services delivered meet the needs of local people.

Provide full and active support to the business planning function, aligning to strategic objectives, local and national policy.

Working with the team, to develop and implement data standards and principles, along with data curation and data architecture processes to enable public health projects.

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Data Science, Public Health, Statistics, Informatics, Epidemiology, Analytics, or related discipline.
