Clinical Administrator & Data Analyst
Job summary
The Clinical Administrator & Data Analyst will have a key role in supporting the practice's proactive management of patients with long-term conditions (LTCs) and Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) requirements.
The post holder will be responsible for maintaining and managing patient registers and call-and-recall processes, undertaking searches on EMIS Web, reviewing patient records, adding appropriate clinical codes, identifying patients requiring reviews or investigations, and ensuring that relevant information is accurately recorded.
The role combines clinical administration, data analysis, patient recall, general practice administration.
The successful candidate will need excellent attention to detail and the ability to work confidently with large amounts of information. They should be comfortable using computer systems, interpreting data and identifying discrepancies or gaps in patient records.
Although the primary focus of the role is clinical administration and data, the post holder will also be expected to support the wider practice team. This will include reception cover when required, dealing with generic practice emails, processing and coding incoming documentation, summarising medical records and undertaking other reasonable administrative duties as required by the practice.
Main duties of the job
- Support the practice in the proactive management of QOF indicators and long term condition registers.
- Maintain accurate and up to date patient registers.
- Run searches on EMIS Web to identify patients who are due or overdue for reviews, monitoring, investigations or other aspects of care.
- Manage patient call and recall processes, ensuring appropriate patients are contacted and followed up.
- Monitor recall activity and identify patients who have not responded or attended.
- Work with clinicians and the wider practice team to ensure appropriate follow up is arranged.
- Assist with identifying patients who may require additional monitoring or intervention.
- Ensure relevant activity is accurately recorded and coded on patient records.
- Support the practice in maximising appropriate QOF achievement through accurate data management and proactive patient recall.
- Produce and maintain reports and spreadsheets relating to patient recalls, registers and clinical activity.
- Identify gaps in data and escalate issues appropriately.
- Analyse patient data to identify trends, outstanding activity, coding gaps and patients requiring follow up.
- Maintain data quality and highlight discrepancies within patient records.
- Support the practice with audits and other data related projects.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with all relevant information governance and data protection requirements.

We are particularly interested in candidates who demonstrate intellectual curiosity and the ability to learn quickly. You do not necessarily need extensive or any GP experience if you have the right attitude, analytical ability and aptitude for working with data and systems.
A graduate with a degree in a relevant or analytical subject may find this role particularly suited to their skills, but we are equally interested in candidates who can demonstrate equivalent ability through their previous experience.
