Product Designer

We are Credentially, a purpose-driven company committed to enabling accessible and safe healthcare for all. By 2030, our mission is clear: to credential 1 million healthcare workers annually, equipping them with the essential skills and expertise to deliver top-tier care. In tandem, we aspire to contribute 10 million additional hours of patient care to healthcare systems, enriching access to vital services and elevating overall patient outcomes.

Our values are at the heart of our company and alignment with our values is the cornerstone of our recruitment process:

What our software does:
Credentially is an all-in-one SaaS platform that automates the painful, manual process of onboarding and credentialing healthcare professionals. Instead of chasing paperwork and juggling spreadsheets, clinics and hospitals use Credentially to:
- Collect and verify documents (licenses, training, references, background checks).
- Check compliance in real time via integrations with official databases.
- Streamline onboarding with digital forms, reminders, and dashboards.
- Continuously track workforce compliance, avoiding expired or missing credentials.
- Reduce time-to-hire from weeks to days by scaling recruitment efficiently.
By automating credentialing, we save providers countless admin hours so they can focus on delivering patient care.
Position Overview
We're looking for a Product Designer who can balance beautiful, intuitive interfaces with deep understanding of complex workflows. You'll be working in a regulated industry where the stakes are real - getting compliance right means healthcare workers can focus on patients, not paperwork.
This role sits at the intersection of several challenges:
- Simplifying incredibly complex compliance requirements without losing critical detail
- Designing for multiple user types (compliance admins, healthcare workers, referees, hiring managers)
- Building AI-powered experiences that feel helpful, not opaque
- Creating a design system that works across both legacy and new platform experiences
You'll have lots of influence over how we approach design. You'll work closely with our Head of Product, engineering team and customer success team to shape both the strategic direction and the day-to-day experience.
Key Responsibilities
Shape the product vision
- Work with our Head of Product to define how compliance software should actually work
- Turn complex regulatory requirements and multi-step workflows into intuitive user experiences
- Design the information architecture for our platform transformation
- Create and evolve our design system as we build the new platform
Design across the full stack
- Own the end-to-end design process from research through to detailed UI specs
- Design for multiple user types: compliance managers drowning in spreadsheets, healthcare workers onboarding to new roles, hiring managers tracking candidate progress
- Create prototypes and mockups that communicate your vision clearly to stakeholders and engineers
- Balance the needs of our existing customers (who depend on the current product) with the vision for where we're heading
Drive AI integration
- Design experiences around our AI-powered document extraction and verification
- Make complex AI decisions (like confidence scoring) understandable and actionable for users
- Create intuitive ways for users to correct or guide AI behaviour
- Think about how AI agents should surface work and recommendations without overwhelming people
Build on evidence
- Run user research to deeply understand pain points in compliance workflows
- Shadow compliance managers and healthcare workers to see the reality of their day-to-day
- Run usability testing on prototypes and live features
- Use data and feedback to keep improving the experience
Collaborate effectively
- Work closely with engineering to understand technical constraints and opportunities
- Partner with customer success to understand what's working and what's frustrating users
- Present design work to leadership and explain your thinking
- Contribute to product strategy discussions with evidence from design research
Skills and Qualifications
Essential:
- 5+ years of product design experience, ideally in B2B SaaS or complex enterprise software
- Strong portfolio showing both UX thinking and visual design skills
- Experience designing for complex workflows with multiple user types
- Comfort with ambiguity - you can work effectively when requirements aren't perfectly defined
- Excellent communication skills - you can explain your thinking and advocate for users
- Skilled with modern design tools (Figma preferred)
- Experience using AI tools in your design workflow (whether for ideation, mockups, copy or research)
- Understanding of design systems and component-based design
- Ability to balance user needs, business goals and technical constraints
Highly desirable:
- Experience in regulated industries (healthcare, finance, legal)
- Understanding of how compliance and verification workflows actually work
- Experience designing AI-powered features or decision support tools
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design practices
- Experience building or contributing to design systems from scratch
- Background in user research methods and usability testing
- Comfort working directly with engineers and understanding technical trade-offs
What makes someone successful here:
- You're comfortable with complexity - you can hold multiple user needs and constraints in your head while still designing something simple
- You're pragmatic - you know when to push for the ideal solution and when to ship something that's good enough for now
- You're curious about the domain - you want to understand why compliance works the way it does, not just design around it
- You're excited about AI - you see the potential but also think critically about where it actually helps users
- You're collaborative - you know good design comes from working closely with product, engineering and customers
