We're relaunching and scaling acquisition. Now we need someone to own everything that happens after the sign-up: keeping players engaged, active, and coming back match after match.
The Role
You own the entire player lifecycle. Every email, SMS, and push, from the welcome message to the win-back, runs through you. You'll turn our match calendar and game mechanics into automated, well-timed messaging that drives daily play without burning people out.
This is a hands-on, end-to-end role. You build the journeys, shape the copy, wire up the data, and read the results. You set the strategy and then ship it yourself. If you like owning a channel from the plumbing to the headline, this is for you.
· Own customer.io end to end. Segmentation, journeys, broadcasts, transactional, the whole platform is yours to run and optimise.
· Design and ship lifecycle programs across email, SMS, and push: onboarding, activation, daily-play habits, streaks and re-engagement.
· Map messaging to the product. Build journeys around our games and data, so each message lands at the right moment in the right game.
· Shape the copy. Write or direct campaign copy that sounds like Cricket8.
· Build the data plumbing. Define the events, triggers and attributes you need, and work with engineering to get the right signals flowing.
· Experiment relentlessly. Test subject lines, send timing, frequency, and channel mix.
· Protect the relationship. Watch deliverability, push opt-in rates, message fatigue, and unsubscribes. Keep the sender reputation and player trust healthy.
· Set the strategy. Find where players drop off, decide which moments matter most, and build the lifecycle roadmap, then prioritise what gets built first.
· Stay compliant. Keep messaging inside the content guardrails for a social games product.
Experience & Skills Required
· You must have a demonstrated passion for, and wide knowledge of cricket. This is essential.
· Extensive hands-on customer.io experience, or a very close platform (Braze, Iterable, MoEngage).
· A track record running email, SMS and push lifecycle programs, ideally for a consumer app or mobile product.
· Genuinely technical. Comfortable with Liquid templating, APIs, webhooks, event-based triggers, and basic SQL. You can launch a campaign without waiting on an engineer.
· Data-driven. You design clean tests, read cohorts and funnels, and act on what they tell you.
· Strong copy and creative instincts. You know what makes a message worth opening and can keep it on-brand.
· Strategic and self-directed. You can own a roadmap, set priorities, and make the call, not just execute a backlog.
· Experience in games or gaming (free-to-play, social, or mobile games), where engagement loops and reward mechanics are the whole game.
· Familiarity with mobile lifecycle tooling: app push, deep links, and an MMP such as AppsFlyer or Adjust.
· Ideally you will have exposure to, and clear understanding of, marketing in a compliance-sensitive category.
