Service/Commissioning Engineer

If you're a BMS Engineer who enjoys both service and commissioning work, this role offers the chance to develop your technical expertise across multiple platforms while being well rewarded for the responsibility that comes with it. You'll join a well-established controls team supporting a varied customer base across London, carrying out planned maintenance, reactive support and commissioning of small works projects on a range of BMS systems. You'll have the autonomy to manage your own workload whilst still having access to experienced technical support when needed.

What you'll actually be doing

Your focus will be on keeping critical BMS installations operating efficiently whilst supporting clients with system improvements and small works projects. You'll be:
  • Servicing, maintaining and troubleshooting BMS systems
  • Commissioning and modifying control strategies
  • Producing technical reports and recommendations for clients
  • Supporting project delivery from commissioning through to handover
  • Building strong relationships with customers and site teams
You'll work with systems including Trend, Tridium, Schneider, Siemens, and more, with opportunities to further develop your technical skill set across additional platforms and technologies.

Why this move could be better

You'll benefit from:
  • Salary up to £58,000
  • Company bonus scheme
  • Overtime opportunities
  • Standby and call-out payments
  • Company car or car allowance
  • 25 days holiday, increasing with service
  • Enhanced pension contributions that increase with length of service
  • Private healthcare
  • Cycle to work, EV and technology purchase schemes
  • Employee discounts and referral scheme
This is a role that offers genuine variety. One day you could be carrying out planned maintenance, the next diagnosing faults, modifying control strategies or commissioning upgrades on site. You'll gain exposure to a broad range of systems and projects rather than becoming tied to a single platform or type of work.

The challenge

This role requires someone who can comfortably switch between planned maintenance, reactive breakdown support and commissioning activities. The engineers who thrive here are those who enjoy solving problems independently, communicating effectively with customers and taking ownership of technical outcomes on site. The reward is a role where you're trusted to make decisions, recognised for your technical expertise and given the opportunity to influence the success of both projects and customer relationships.

What you'll gain over the next few years

You'll continue building your expertise across multiple BMS platforms, gain wider commissioning experience and develop your knowledge of complex building systems. For engineers looking to become more technically rounded and increase their long-term value within the BMS industry, this offers a genuine opportunity to broaden your experience beyond a purely service-focused position.

Practicalities
  • London-based role
  • Service, maintenance and commissioning work
  • Participation in an on-call rota
  • Company vehicle or car allowance provided
  • Strong BMS controls and HVAC knowledge required
