Full Stack Software Engineer (AI Platform)
London - Hybrid
The client:
This team is building an AI-powered platform for drug design. It helps scientists design and test ideas faster by giving them the right tools and insights at each stage of the process.
The team is collaborative and cross-functional. You’ll work closely with engineers, scientists, and ML researchers across multiple locations. It’s still early in their journey, so there’s ambiguity. You’ll be expected to take ownership and shape how things are built.
The role:
As a Full Stack Software Engineer, you’ll build products that directly support scientific research.
-You’ll design and develop software that solves real user problems. This includes working closely with scientists to understand how they work and what they need.
-You’ll contribute across the stack. That includes backend services, data layers, and frontend interfaces.
-You’ll help design cloud-native systems and applications. This includes building scalable services and working with different data models.
-You’ll partner with product teams to shape user experience. The focus is on making complex workflows simple and usable.
-You’ll also collaborate with other engineering teams to deliver features end to end.
About you (skills/experience):
- You have experience building web applications in fast-moving environments.
- You’ve taken ownership of projects or led technical work.
- You can write production-level code, ideally in Python or TypeScript.
- You have strong software engineering fundamentals across frontend and backend.
- You understand data modelling and the trade-offs between different approaches.
- You’ve worked with cloud infrastructure and modern application architectures.
- You have a degree in Computer Science or similar, or equivalent experience.
- You’re open to learning about biology or chemistry as part of the role.
Desirables:
- Experience with Python, TypeScript, Postgres, GraphQL, React, or Kubernetes
- Experience building internal tools or platforms
- Exposure to scientific, biotech, or drug discovery environments
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform
