Job summary
A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Information Governance & Medico Legal Team at St Nicholas Hospital as a Medico Legal Complex Case Officer (Band 5). This is a permanent full-time position (37.5 hours per week).
Main duties of the job
We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced individual to join our busy and dynamic team. The successful candidate will have experience working within a Medico Legal role, or related legal or clinical role, together with the ability to manage competing priorities within a fast-paced environment. Applicants should possess excellent organisational and communication skills, a high standard of IT literacy, including Microsoft Office applications, and the ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues at all levels. A proactive, professional, and approachable attitude, alongside knowledge of specialist clinical and information governance and legal/statutory frameworks, is essential.

Person Specification
Education and Qualification
- Specialist knowledge acquired through qualification to degree level (in an appropriate discipline related to this role which can be Clinical, Social, Business or Law) or a minimum of 3 years equivalent experience
- Demonstrate evidence of continuous professional development relevant to the role
Knowledge and Experience
- Comprehensive working knowledge of common law duty of confidentiality, the Data Protection Act 1998, and in particular how its provision relates to the NHS, the Access to Records Act 1990, Freedom of Information Act 2000, Mental Capacity Act; Gender Recognition Act; relevant social care legislation; the NHS Code of Confidentiality and other NHS guidance.
