IT Apprentice
Curtiss-Wright is a long-standing company who were at the forefront of aviation. Since its early days in aviation, the Company has diversified into many industrial areas and acquired Penny & Giles in 2002. The roles are in the Avionics business unit that produces flight recorders (black boxes), used in today's commercial aircraft.
Role
- Working with the IT Operations team at our Christchurch site you will learn about how a large global organisation uses information technology to meet the ever-growing needs of high-tech electronics design and manufacturing companies, and how we use technology to secure and safeguard the data that these businesses rely on.
- Your role will be hands-on working directly with the staff in all departments, providing them with the help and support they need using the IT resources required for their jobs. This will involve managing network user accounts, file shares on centralised severs, network printers, as well as building and imaging computers from new, and maintaining the network infrastructure to keep everything connected.
- We will teach you how to use all the tools that help us manage large numbers of users and computers across a network that spans around the world.
Training
- You will undertake an Information Communication Technician Level 3 course at Bournemouth & Poole College
- Functional Skills in maths and English, if required
- You will attend day release at B&P College
- Health & Safety skills
- Training in installing and configuring computer systems, diagnosing hardware and/or software faults, solving technical and applications problems
- Upon successful completion of the course and end point assessment, you can expect to continue in IT or continue your studies
