About CyPro
We are an innovative cyber security start-up united in a shared mission: to redefine cyber security for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs).
Our Founders – Jonny & Rob - spent most of their early careers delivering cyber security for large enterprises and central government, and they saw a clear need for a new approach to cybersecurity, especially as small to medium-sized businesses became increasingly targeted by cyber criminals. Indeed, by 2022, SMBs were the focus of 75% of cyber attacks, largely due to them being easy targets.
Together, CyPro is already setting new standards, defining innovative solutions and equipping its clients with the cyber security they need to prevent attacks, secure bigger clients, and scale to new heights of success. There are some elements of your role which are expected from all members of staff, irrespective of their grade or seniority.
- Problem-Solving: ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve a wide range of security issues effectively, both tactically and strategically.
- Adaptability: ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Driven, Self-Starters: we are not a large FTSE organisation with a procedure for everything. You will need to be willing to put in the extra effort and operate in an environment often with little guardrails.
The Role
You will be in a dynamic, client-facing team, where you will deliver the security needs of a number of high-growth clients through our consultancy and managed services offerings. You’ll work alongside the CyPro team, including a CISO, SOC Manager, Security Architects, Penetration Testers, and Cloud Security Specialists.
As a Senior Consultant, your role will be diverse and engaging, with responsibilities that span across 4 key areas; client delivery, practice development, people management and business development:
🏆 Client Side Delivery
- At least 3 years working within cyber security, ideally with experience in a consulting capacity, at an MSSP or in-house within industry.
- Proven ability to deliver high quality security projects, and coordinate with stakeholders, including client senior management and technical teams.
- Preparing and delivering monthly executive and operational governance meetings.
- Leading operational delivery for client certification audits, e.g. ISO 27001, CE+ and SOC2.
- Supporting our Security Operations Centre during incident response, ensuring effective threat mitigation.
- Raising cyber security awareness through our entertaining bulletin, blogs, phishing simulations and tabletop exercises.
- Leading the response to third-party due diligence questionnaires and assessing new vendors.
- Ensuring you continue to make yourself marketable and credible to clients and prospects by maintaining professional accreditations.
- A Senior Consultant would be expected to have at least 2 professional accreditations such as CompTIA+, ISO27001 Lead Auditor or CC (Certified in Cyber Security) or CISSP or CISM.
⚙️ Practice Development
- Designing and improving internal processes, services and ways of working.
- Identifying opportunities to use automation and AI to improve the quality and efficiency of client delivery.
- Developing reusable templates, methodologies and client assets.
- Taking ownership of internal initiatives, with support from Managers and the wider team
💁🏼 People Management
- Whilst no formal line management responsibilities as yet, a Senior Consultant will be able to demonstrate periodic examples of managing individual Consultants and Analysts.
- Starting to act as a role model of professionalism for junior members of the team. For example, you;
- Have mandatory training completed on time – no chasing required.
- Timesheets are never missing or late.
- Helping graduates (and other team members where appropriate) onboard and embed within the team.
📈 Business Development
- Supporting and increasingly owning the development of proposals, bids and client opportunities.
- Contributing to discovery calls and helping translate client challenges into strong propositions.
- Supporting business development and outreach activities where appropriate.
- Contributing to CyPro’s external profile through thought leadership, blogs and other cyber security content.
🧠 Soft Skills
There are a handful of ‘soft skills’ which are of critical importance when fulfilling a Consultant role. For example;
- Effective – a Consultant is able to “make sh*t happen”. They are not someone who finds reasons why something didn’t happen. They constantly find ways round obstacles, gain traction and get things done.
- Accountable & Humble – much like a professional athlete, you recognise that you hold the responsibility for your performance at work. The ego is left at the door. Consultants are able to look inward, reflect and constantly identify areas for improvement.
- Polished Delivery – a Senior Consultant will capable of consistently producing highly polished client deliverables, relatively autonomously.
💻 Interview Process
We operate differently. No long drawn out recruitment processes - we generally can get candidates through our process (from START to FINISH) within 10 days 🎉. Successful candidates can expect the following 2 stage process for this role:
- 📞 Telephone Interview - a 20 minute initial chat with a Cyber Security Manager.
- 🎮 Assessment Centre - a morning in our Canary Wharf office where we do some fun exercises together, psychometric tests and hold the final interview with a practice partner.
