About the Role

We are looking for a Deputy Academy Manager – Training & Delivery to serve as the second-in-command to the Academy Manager at our APAC Academy.

This is a hands-on leadership role with a strong focus on training excellence, instructor management, program delivery, and student experience.

The Deputy Academy Manager will work side-by-side with the Academy Manager to ensure that every training program is delivered to the highest professional standard. You will be highly visible within the Academy, working directly with instructors, students, training leads, and management.

This role operates as a permanent leadership partner to the Academy Manager, with clear delegated responsibility for training quality, performance monitoring, operational alignment, and execution of agreed Academy priorities.

This is not simply an administrative role. We are looking for someone who understands training, learning environments, instructor development, and the realities of running a high-performance Academy.

Key Responsibilities

Training Leadership & Delivery

•Take ownership of the day-to-day quality and execution of Academy training programs.

•Ensure training is delivered according to methodology, curriculum, standards, and learning objectives.

•Monitor classes and instructor performance to ensure a consistent high standard of delivery.

•Work closely with instructors to improve teaching methods, classroom engagement, practical exercises, and learner outcomes.

•Support the implementation of new courses, training methodologies, and learning initiatives.

•Work in close partnership with the Operations Manager / Director to ensure training schedules, instructor allocations, classroom and technical resources, course materials, and operational readiness support successful Academy outcomes.

•Identify training gaps and recommend improvements to content, delivery, or instructor capability.

Instructor Management & Development

•Support the Academy Manager in the daily leadership of the instructor team.

•Provide coaching, mentoring, feedback, and guidance to trainers.

•Help onboard new instructors and ensure they understand training standards and methodology.

•Conduct classroom observations and provide structured feedback.

•Help identify instructor development needs and build improvement plans where required.

•Encourage instructors to continuously develop their technical knowledge and training capabilities.

•Support the Academy Manager with trainer evaluations and performance discussions.

•Student Experience & Training Quality

•Maintain a high-quality, professional, and engaging learning environment.

•Monitor student progress, attendance, engagement, and training feedback.

•Identify students or classes requiring additional academic support.

•Work with instructors to address learning challenges quickly.

•Review student and client feedback and turn it into practical improvements.

•Ensure students receive a consistent training experience across different instructors and courses.

•Help create an Academy culture built around excellence, accountability, professionalism, and continuous learning.

Academy Leadership

•Act as the Academy Manager's deputy, ensuring the consistent execution of Academy strategy, objectives, standards, and priorities as defined by the Academy Manager and senior leadership team.

•Operate as an ongoing leadership partner to the Academy Manager, exercising delegated decision-making authority within agreed areas of responsibility and ensuring continuity, accountability, and consistent execution of Academy direction.

•Ensure all training delivery, instructor development activities, resource decisions, and student outcomes remain aligned with the strategic direction and priorities set by the Academy Manager and senior leadership team.

•Translate Academy strategy into clear operational training plans, priorities, targets, initiatives, and measurable performance outcomes.

•Lead continuous improvement initiatives across training quality, curriculum delivery, instructor performance, student experience, and Academy effectiveness.

•Establish, monitor, analyse, and report on key Academy performance metrics, including student satisfaction, programme completion, attendance and engagement, instructor effectiveness, training quality, and delivery against agreed objectives.

•Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, collaboration, and continuous learning across the Academy, with clear ownership of standards and outcomes.

•Act as a leadership role model, reinforcing values, standards, expectations, and a performance-driven Academy culture.

•Work in close partnership with the Operations Manager / Director to ensure scheduling, instructor deployment, facilities, technical resources, logistics, and capacity planning enable the successful delivery of Academy objectives and student outcomes.

•Serve as the designated second-in-command to the Academy Manager, providing evidence-based recommendations on training capability, instructor development, resource planning, performance priorities, and Academy growth.

•Use performance data and operational insight to identify trends, gaps, and risks early, and recommend or implement corrective actions in alignment with Academy priorities.

•Coordinate across instructors, Operations, project teams, clients, and senior management to resolve operational, training, scheduling, and resource challenges and ensure delivery excellence.

What We Are Looking For

•Proven experience in training, education, technical instruction, learning & development, or Academy environments.

•Previous experience leading or managing instructors, trainers, educators, or training teams.

•Strong understanding of what makes training effective and engaging.

•Experience assessing training quality and providing constructive feedback to instructors.

•Strong leadership presence with the ability to exercise sound judgement, make decisions within delegated authority, and maintain alignment with Academy strategy and leadership direction.

•Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple training programs and priorities simultaneously.

•Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

•Comfortable working with both technical professionals and senior management.

•Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on “get it done” mindset.

•Fluent professional English.

•Willing and able to relocate to APAC and work onsite at the Academy.

Strong Advantage

•Experience within a cybersecurity, technology, intelligence, or technical training environment.

•Previous experience as a senior instructor, lead trainer, training manager, academic manager, or deputy academy manager.

•Experience building or improving training programs.

•Experience coaching and developing instructors.

•Experience working in an international or multicultural training environment.
