An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Electronics Hardware Engineer to join a highly technical engineering team developing innovative electronic hardware and embedded systems for advanced subsea applications.
This is a hands-on senior engineering position with responsibility for developing new electronics hardware, supporting new product development and acting as a technical authority on electronics design. The position covers both analogue and digital electronics, alongside providing technical guidance and mentorship across Engineering and Production.
The role would suit an experienced electronics engineer with a strong background in analogue and digital circuit design, FPGA/MPU technology, embedded systems and low-power electronics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop analogue and digital electronic hardware
- Develop and support embedded firmware
- Lead hardware and electronics design reviews
- Act as a technical authority on electronics design for new product developments
- Design reliable, low-power and low-noise electronic systems
- Design for EMC and support EMC testing and standards compliance
- Carry out hands-on electronics and embedded software fault finding
- Evaluate different design approaches and technical solutions
- Produce accurate engineering and design documentation
- Provide technical support to Production
- Provide mentorship and technical direction to engineering colleagues
- Keep up to date with developments in electronics technologies and toolsets
Key Skills & Experience:
- Strong analogue and digital electronics design experience
- FPGA and MPU experience
- Low-power and low-noise electronics design
- EMC design and testing experience
- Understanding of relevant EMC standards, including EN60945
- Altium and PCB design experience
- Embedded C programming
- C++ knowledge
- Microprocessor implementation
- Electronics and embedded software fault finding
- Production support experience
- Strong technical documentation skills
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Qualifications:
A 2:1 or above in a relevant Engineering degree, such as Electronic or Electrical Engineering, is required.
