Senior GCP Apigee Engineer (Contract)
We’re recruiting an experienced Senior GCP Apigee Engineer for a long-term contract role, supporting large-scale cloud and API platforms in a complex enterprise environment.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on API management, Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and modern DevOps practices, working as part of a cross-functional cloud platform team.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build and manage APIs using Google Apigee (Apigee X / Hybrid)
- Develop and deploy API proxies, policies and configurations
- Implement CI/CD pipelines for API lifecycle management (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Harness)
- Build automation and tooling using Python
- Apply API security standards including OAuth, JWT, mTLS, rate limiting and threat protection
- Automate infrastructure and deployments using Terraform / IaC
- Integrate Apigee with GCP services (GKE, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, BigQuery)
- Support API gateway modernisation and legacy API migrations
- Monitor, optimise and govern APIs for performance, resilience and compliance
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on experience with Google Apigee
- Solid GCP background
- Proven API Management and API Gateway delivery
- CI/CD and DevOps experience
- Python scripting for automation
- Kubernetes / GKE experience
- Understanding of API security and governance
Desirable
- Terraform or Terraform Cloud
- Apigee or GCP certifications
- Experience in regulated or enterprise environments
