Location: Cornwall
Grade: WeST Plymouth NJC Grade E (Scale points 15-20) £29,093 - £31,586
Hours: 37 hours/week, Monday to Thursday 08:00–16:00, Friday 08:00–15:30 (52 weeks/year)
Reports to: Cornwall Cluster Network Manager
Responsible for: Supporting ICT across the Cornwall Cluster
Key Relationships: Trust ICT Operations Managers, school staff, pupils, external stakeholders
Job Purpose
As Senior ICT Support Technician, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of ICT services across the Cornwall Cluster. Based at Sir James Smith’s School, you will deliver expert technical support to staff and students, maintain and optimise ICT infrastructure, and assist with network management. You’ll step in to manage the network in the Network Manager’s absence, working closely with Trust ICT teams to align services with educational goals.
Key Responsibilities

Provide prompt, professional ICT support to staff, students, and Trust users via helpdesk and onsite visits.

Offer guidance and mentorship to fellow ICT team members.

Maintain, install, and repair ICT hardware including computers, peripherals, and network infrastructure.

Support and manage software installations, updates, and configurations, including SIMS and other critical systems.

Assist with network user account management, email setup, and basic network infrastructure maintenance (routers, switches, wireless access points).

Support ICT projects including infrastructure upgrades, installations, and relocations.

Liaise with external contractors for quotations and oversee on-site ICT-related works.

Uphold safeguarding standards, promoting the welfare and safety of young people.

Ensure all ICT support requests are logged, processed, and resolved within agreed SLAs.

Collaborate across the Trust to provide cover and support as needed.

You’ll be a proactive problem solver with strong technical skills, excellent communication, and a passion for supporting education through ICT. Experience in network management, software support, and hardware maintenance is essential, alongside a collaborative and customer-focused approach.
