Systems Designer – Audio OR Lighting
A leading global live events and production technology business is looking for a Systems Designer specialising in either Audio OR Lighting to join its UK Technical Delivery team.
This is a specialist technical design position within a wider team covering Audio, Lighting, Video and Rigging. You’ll take your expertise from live event environments and use it to design, plan and document complete technical systems for complex temporary events and productions.
The role is predominantly office based in Uxbridge, with planned onsite time to remain connected to live delivery.
The Role
- Design complete Audio OR Lighting systems for temporary events and live productions
- Evaluate project requirements and develop safe, effective and commercially appropriate technical solutions
- Produce detailed drawings, schematics, renderings, access plans, bills of materials and scopes of work
- Use Vectorworks, ConnectCAD and other technical design platforms to document systems
- Work closely with Project Managers, technical teams and onsite crews from initial planning through to delivery
- Adapt designs around budgets, available inventory and operational requirements
- Provide specialist technical guidance and troubleshoot challenges during project delivery
- Help develop technical design standards, documentation, templates and best practice
- Work with manufacturers, suppliers and procurement teams on equipment selection and technical development
- Review completed projects and identify improvements for future system designs
- Maintain hands-on technical knowledge through planned onsite work and advanced manufacturer training
For the Audio Systems Designer position, your expertise will cover end-to-end professional audio systems within live events, including:
- Audio system design and signal flow
- RF systems
- Networking and control systems
- Cabling and infrastructure
- Temporary event audio standards
For the Lighting Systems Designer position, your expertise will cover end-to-end professional lighting systems within live events, including:
- Lighting system design
- Lighting control and networking
- Power distribution
- Rigging interfaces
- Temporary event lighting standards
You’ll come from a strong technical background within either live event Audio or Lighting, with extensive experience working with the systems used across temporary events and productions.
You’ll have strong systems knowledge alongside experience with technical design and documentation, ideally including Vectorworks and ConnectCAD, and be comfortable working collaboratively with project, technical and operational teams.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced live events technical specialist who wants to focus more heavily on systems design and technical planning, while still retaining a connection to onsite delivery.
Location: Uxbridge/London
Salary: £50,000 – £53,000
