Technical Video Specialist – Live Events

We’re working with a leading global live events and production business looking to add an experienced Technical Video Specialist to its team.

This is a hands-on technical role for someone with strong expertise across video systems for live events, from pre-production and system design through to onsite installation, operation and delivery.

You’ll work across small to large-scale productions, taking ownership of complex video solutions while also leading and supporting onsite technical teams.

The Role

  • Design and implement video systems alongside Project Managers and Producers, ensuring solutions meet each event brief.
  • Support pre-production planning, including media server and switching workflows.
  • Produce and maintain accurate technical drawings, plans and schematics using Vectorworks.
  • Operate advanced switching systems for large-scale events, including Barco E2/S3 and linked switcher configurations.
  • Plan, design and install multi-blended projection systems using Barco, Christie and Panasonic projectors and associated software.
  • Design and lead complex multi-screen LED display builds, including multiple processor configurations.
  • Lead video delivery onsite, delegating effectively across technical teams and ensuring projects are delivered accurately and on time.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues quickly during live events and maintain consistently high production standards.
  • Supervise and direct technicians across pre-event, live event and post-event activity.
  • Work closely with internal teams, venues and clients to deliver the best possible technical solution and event experience.
  • Mentor and coach other team members, helping develop technical and leadership capability across the wider team.
  • Support equipment preparation, maintenance, transportation, storage, inventory and forecasting.

About You

You’ll ideally have:

  • 4+ years’ hands-on field experience within professional video / live event production.
  • Strong knowledge of advanced video switching, projection and LED systems.
  • Practical experience with Barco E2/S3, large-scale projection and complex LED builds.
  • Experience creating or working from technical drawings and schematics, ideally using Vectorworks.
  • The ability to lead technical teams onsite and confidently delegate across complex productions.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to remain composed in a live event environment.
  • Excellent client-facing and communication skills.
  • A strong understanding of health & safety and equipment security within live production environments.
  • Previous customer service or hospitality experience would be beneficial.
