Overview of the Opportunity

I am building a small but ambitious education business focused on delivering ICT and digital skills lessons to primary school students. The aim is to create high-quality after-school clubs and full-day ICT programmes that schools can rely on, while gradually building a strong curriculum and teaching system that can scale to multiple schools.

At the current stage, the business is still developing. Because of this, I am looking for someone who is willing to work closely with the founder to help build the programme and operations from the ground up. This role is suited to someone who is interested in education, enjoys creative work, and is comfortable taking on varied responsibilities in a small, growing organisation.

The position combines teaching, creative curriculum development, and operational support. Over time, as the business grows and more schools are added, the role is expected to expand significantly in both responsibility and income.

Responsibilities

The role involves a combination of teaching, creative work, and operational support.

Teaching

  • Deliver primary school ICT after-school clubs
  • Deliver full-day ICT teaching sessions when required
  • Support the development of engaging lessons for primary school students
  • Manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment

Curriculum and Lesson Development

  • Build and improve lesson slides and digital learning materials
  • Assist with lesson planning and curriculum development
  • Review lessons and identify areas where they can be improved
  • Help develop a consistent visual style for teaching materials

Business Development Support

  • Assist with researching competitors and similar education programmes
  • Support applications for business grants or funding opportunities
  • Help identify ways to improve the programme and expand into more schools

Administration and Operations

  • General administrative work including emails and documentation
  • Assisting with policies and organisational materials
  • Helping to keep operational processes organised as the business grows

Because this is a small organisation, the role will involve a variety of tasks rather than a narrow job description, particularly in the early stages.

  • Ability to build clear and visually engaging teaching slides
  • Basic knowledge of coding or digital technology
  • Good written communication skills

The role requires someone who can be both creative and practical, able to design lessons and also help deliver them effectively.

Time Commitment and Availability

At the current stage, the number of teaching sessions available is limited but expected to grow over time.

Initially, the role may involve:

  • 2–3 after-school clubs per week
  • Occasional full-day teaching sessions

Additional work will involve curriculum development, research, and operational tasks that support the business as it grows.

Candidates should expect that the role will expand gradually as more schools and programmes are secured.

Compensation Structure

Because the business is still developing, compensation is structured in a way that reflects both the current stage of the business and the expected growth over time.

Teaching Pay (Revenue-Generating Work)

After-school clubs:

£30 per session

Full-day ICT teaching:

£130 per day

These rates apply whenever teaching work is delivered.

Operational Retainer

In addition to teaching pay, there is a monthly operational payment for work related to building and improving the programme. This will be a total of 20 hours a week, preferably on 2 specific days, this can be done from home but would be preferably in a shared study space especially as the business grows to a larger size.

Starting operational pay:

£300 per month

This covers work such as:

  • Slide creation
  • Lesson development
  • Administrative support
  • Research
  • Grant applications
  • Programme improvement

Growth-Based Pay Progression

As the number of clubs delivered by the business increases, the operational retainer will increase accordingly.

Long-Term Role

The long-term goal of the business is to expand to a larger number of schools and programmes.

If the business grows to 40 or more clubs per week, the intention is to create a full-time position with a salary of approximately:

£41,000 per year

At that stage the role would likely develop into a programme leadership position, overseeing teaching delivery and helping manage the expanding curriculum and school partnerships.
