The Role

We are looking for a motivated Application Support Engineer to join our technical team providing application support to a major client.

\n

You will work as a front-line technical engineer responsible for resolving software issues, monitoring performance, and performing root cause analysis. The role involves service management and minor enhancement activities as part of ongoing Application Management delivery.

\n

Working Pattern\n

    \n
  • \nHybrid — up to 3-4 days on site per week\n
  • \n

  • \nRotating shifts: 7am–3pm / 9:30am–5:30pm\n
  • \n

  • \nPotential for out-of-hours on-call support\n

\n\n

Key Responsibilities\n

    \n
  • \nPerforming early morning health checks to ensure applications are operational before users log in\n
  • \n

  • \nMonitoring, diagnosing, and resolving technical issues related to Windows desktop and server-based applications\n
  • \n

  • \nManaging incoming support requests, ensuring all issues are troubleshot and prioritised according to SLA\n
  • \n

  • \nAssisting in the deployment of software patches, upgrades, and configuration changes across Production and Non-Production environments\n
  • \n

  • \nActively tracking application health using performance management tools, log files, and automated alerts\n
  • \n

  • \nInvestigating Windows Event Viewer and application logs to identify root causes of errors\n
  • \n

  • \nCreating and updating knowledge base articles and "how-to" guides for common fixes\n
  • \n

  • \nCollaborating with application engineers and liaising with the client regularly\n
  • \n

  • \nIdentifying and implementing continual service improvement activities\n

Key Skills & Experience

\n

Essential:

\n

    \n
  • \n2–5 years of experience in application support, systems administration, or IT service desk\n
  • \n

  • \nStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities\n
  • \n

  • \nExcellent communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment\n
  • \n

  • \nWindows-based application support experience\n

\n\n

Desirable:

    \n
  • \nStrong proficiency in SQL Server 2016+\n
  • \n

  • \nActive Directory experience\n
  • \n

  • \nServiceNow or related ITSM tool knowledge\n
  • \n

  • \nDynatrace or other monitoring tools\n
  • \n

  • \nUnderstanding of cloud platforms and basic programming integrations\n
  • \n

  • \nITIL V4 Foundation Certification\n
  • \n

  • \nMicrosoft certifications (e.g., Azure Fundamentals/Administrator)\n
  • \n

  • \nVendor-specific CRM/ERP certifications\n

High Level Clearance is mandatory for this role. Due to security clearance requirements, candidates must be:
