About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Software Developer (Leadership) to join our software engineering team at our Farnborough facility. This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you will support a team of software engineers in the development of software products and solutions, providing guidance, code reviews, and technical mentorship while contributing to the execution of our software engineering strategy.

You will combine deep technical expertise with strong leadership capabilities, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the team.

Key Responsibilities

\n

• \nSupport a team of software engineers in the development of software products and solutions, providing technical guidance, code reviews, and hands-on support\n

\n

• \nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements, ensuring the successful delivery of software projects on time and within scope\n

\n

• \nAssist in the professional growth and mentorship of team members through regular feedback, coaching, and career development planning\n

\n

• \nContribute to the execution of the software engineering strategy, participating in strategic discussions and technology assessments\n

\n

• \nManage project tasks and assignments, helping to prioritize and plan work to meet project goals and deadlines\n

\n

• \nMonitor project timelines, resource allocation, and budgets to ensure efficient project execution\n

\n

• \nProactively identify and mitigate project risks, working to resolve issues as they arise\n

\n

• \nPromote a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the team\n

\n

• \nParticipate in code reviews and architectural discussions to maintain code quality and best practices\n

• \nSupport the recruitment and onboarding of new team members\n

Essential Qualifications

\n

\n
• \nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and professional experience)\n

\n

• \nMinimum 6+ years of relevant work experience in software engineering and development\n

\n

• \nMinimum 2+ years of experience in a similar technical leadership or mentoring role\n

\n

• \nProficiency in C/C++ programming with hands-on experience in production environments\n

\n

• \nStrong proficiency in Linux operating systems (system administration, kernel knowledge, or application development)\n

\n

• \nProficiency in Python programming with experience in real-world projects\n

\n

• \nStrong programming and debugging skills across multiple languages\n

\n

• \nDemonstrated experience with software development methodologies and best practices (e.g., Agile, Scrum, CI/CD)\n

\n

• \nProven ability to lead, mentor, and develop team members\n

\n

• \nStrong communication and teamwork skills\n

\n

• \nExcellent organizational and time management skills\n

\n

• \nWillingness to learn and grow in a technical leadership role\n

Desirable Qualifications

• \nAdvanced degree (Master's) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field\n

\n

• \nRelevant certifications or training (e.g., Agile/Scrum Master, cloud certifications)\n

\n

• \nExperience with version control systems (Git, SVN)\n

\n

• \nFamiliarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices\n

\n

• \nExperience with software architecture and design patterns\n

\n

• \nKnowledge of security best practices and secure coding principles\n

\n

• \nExperience with embedded systems or systems programming\n

\n\n

\n

Security Clearance

\n

UK Security Clearance (SC) eligibility is mandatory for this role.
