Infrastructure Technical Architect - Bridgend - £550 - £650 per day - INSIDE IR35 - 6 months contract (with extentions)
A technical architect works with delivery teams on problems that require broad architectural thinking and technical expertise. This includes responsibility for making sure the technical strategy is agreed followed and delivered.
At this role level, you will provide:
- Technical Authority - the day-to-day responsibility for all technical aspects of a project, both internally and at client sites. Be responsible for governance, solving complex and high risk issues or delivering architecture designs within area of expertise.
- Technical Leadership - communication of the technical vision to the delivery team and achieving buy-in. Be responsible for leading the technical design within a project, justifying and communicating design decisions with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Technology Architecture - providing the guidelines and standards that define the patterns, practices and technologies adopted within system component[PM3.1]s. Defining and collaborating with others to establish/apply best practice.
- Security - providing the principles and guidelines that define how the solution is to be secured and how that security will be tested/monitored.
- Technical Quality - applying technical governance, code reviews, design reviews, continuous integration and automated testing
- Non-Functional Champion - understanding a system's non-functional requirements, how they are achieved via the proposed architecture, and how they are validated and tested

Key Activities
Support the design and implementation with knowledge of technology, technique, method, product or application in a particular technology stack, and a broad appreciation of architectural approaches.
Align the technology with the business and customer goals, identifying benefits and risk mitigation approaches.
Makes appropriate use of new and existing technology to deliver an optimal business solution
Awareness of the modern technology landscape and how it could be leveraged for the benefit of the client
Communicates with business, delivery and operational stakeholders about technical designs and how they achieve business benefit by contributing to the overall solution
Demonstrates a good understanding of a range of development styles, patterns and methodologies.
Support the implementation of a strategy or vision, for example, by using a roadmap or plan
- Use architectural principles, patterns, and constraints when appropriate
- Align your work with the work being done by other architects and technical professionals.
- Work collaboratively in a group, actively networking with others. Use your initiative to identify problems or issues in the team dynamic and rectify them
- Identify issues through Agile 'health checks' with the team, and help to stimulate the right responses
- Track emerging issues, strategies, roadmaps, patterns and technologies over time to assess opportunities and risks to your work
- Uses reference models applicable to their domain to propogate best practice, and ensure adherence to applicable standards. Use feedback to optimise and refine standards for technical designs throughout the life cycle.
- Create technical designs characterised by medium risk, impact, and complexity
- Maintain appropriate quality and architectural coherence of a technical design in response to change
- Work with others to make architectural design decisions characterised by managed levels of risk and complexity. Engage with architectural governance and assurance to effectively manage decisions and risks, with support
- Make and guide architectural design decisions according to a range of characteristics including cost, risk, complexity and performance. Effective in evaluating options and clarifying key issues.
- Produce detailed component specifications and translate these into detailed designs for implementation using selected products.
- Understand and validate how technical solutions and options address stakeholder needs.Identify issues through Agile 'health checks' with the team, and help to stimulate the right responses.
- Technical Debt Management - identifying, prioritising and resolving areas of deficiency or non-compliance. Enable tactical decision making and compromises whilst ensuring commitment for technical debt resolution.
- Technical Risk Management - identify and address architectural risks relevant to your team or domain, for example, business, data, or security
- Produce detailed component specifications and translate these into detailed designs for implementation using selected products.
- Support the preparation of technical plans, change governance and estimation using information from many sources.
- Shares knowledge at an architectural level.
Delivery
- Responsible for the delivery of technical solutions in line with contractual requirements for their part of the system solution.
- Responsible for the creation, maintenance and delivery of technical documentation for their part of the system solution, as required by the contract and applicable standards through design, implementation, validation and change.
- Identifies and resolves deficiencies in system documentation in a timely manner.
- Leads the selection of appropriate tools and/or methodology for the problems in their part of the system as part of the overall solution.
- Provides reliable and accurate estimating using estimating methodologies across their part of the system as part of the overall solution.
- Identifies and deploys appropriate opportunities for re-use of existing designs, solutions, systems and methodologies.
- Uses reference models applicable to their domain to gain stakeholder buy-in to the vision where apporpriate.
- Owns the list of concerns, architectural decisions and the technical risk register.
- Carries out review process and associated governance.
- Technical Risk Management - understanding, communicating and resolving risks associated with solution delivery Take action to solve or mitigate problems by influencing colleagues across the organisation
- Engages effectively and professionally with the client team as the owner of the technical baseline for their part of the system solution. Is the key point of contact for all technical issues.

This temporary contract is inside IR35 and will require working under the direction of the client delivery manager as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The successful candidate will follow established delivery processes and working practices
