Position Description


Our client is looking to strengthen its existing team with an experienced Northern Ireland Education Subject Matter Expert.


This advisory role will provide practical insight into the Northern Ireland education system and help ensure that our technology propositions and services reflect the needs of schools, educators, learners and education stakeholders.


You may be an education professional with strong technology knowledge, or a technology professional with substantial experience in Northern Ireland education. You will bring sector credibility, sound judgement and the ability to translate education needs into clear guidance for multidisciplinary teams.


The anticipated start date is September 2026.

Your future duties and responsibilities
As the Northern Ireland Education Subject Matter Expert, you will:
. Work with existing teams to provide informed advice on the Northern Ireland education system, its key organisations and the practical needs of schools.
. Help shape technology propositions and service approaches so they support teaching, learning, school administration, inclusion and educational outcomes.
. Review and challenge proposed solutions from an education perspective, identifying risks, gaps and opportunities.
. Translate education needs into clear, practical guidance for technical, commercial and programme teams.
. Advise on user experience, accessibility, special educational needs, digital safeguarding, online safety, adoption and emerging technology.
. Contribute to workshops, written materials and presentations where Northern Ireland education expertise is required.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
You should be able to demonstrate:
. Substantial experience within, or working closely with, the Northern Ireland education sector.
. A strong understanding of the Education Authority, Department of Education, C2k, schools and wider education stakeholders.
. Experience of applying education knowledge to technology, digital transformation, managed services or organisational change.
. A sound understanding of digital learning, accessibility, special educational needs, online safety and digital safeguarding.
. The ability to evaluate technology proposals from an education and user perspective.
. Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively.
. The ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams and provide clear, practical advice.


Desirable experience
It would be advantageous to have:
. Experience working for, or delivering services to, a major Northern Ireland education organisation.
. A background as an educator, school leader, education administrator, education technologist, adviser or consultant.
. Experience of major public sector bids, transformation programmes or managed services within education.
. Knowledge of school technology environments, collaboration platforms, digital learning tools and safeguarding technologies.

You will be comfortable working with technical and non technical colleagues, forming an independent view and communicating it clearly.

This temporary contract is inside IR35 and will require working under the direction of the client delivery manager as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The successful candidate will follow established delivery processes and working practices.
