Software Engineer (Newcastle Upon Tyne)
SC Cleared Software Developer - 3 months+ £550-650pd Outside IR35- Remote with 2 days on site in Newcastle every 2/3 weeks
My client are looking for a Software Developer who has worked within Central Government on GDS (government digital service Projects). The Software Developer will be an experienced with a good understanding of Java and Springboot with knowledge of JPA/Postgres. Experience of GitHub and AWS offerings would be an advantage.
The roles requires awareness of the Government Service standards (Service Standard - Service Manual - GOV.UK () and creating inclusive software to meet Accessibility Standards.
Responsibilities:
- Create clean, well-designed and efficient code.
- Contributing to peer reviews and providing constructive feedback.
- Collaborate with the UCD design team, Business Analyst, Performance Analyst and development and Quality Assurance Colleagues to develop a User Focussed and inclusive service.
- Adhere to technical coding standards, best practises, and consistent documentation - Contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle, including estimation, sprint planning, and backlog grooming.
- Report progress daily at stand-up sessions in a transparent way, not afraid to ask for help and work with with team members to resolve issues impacting delivery.
- A good understanding of functional programming principles and TDD.
- Experience with Java and ideally Scala
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Experience with DevOps practises.
