Azure Cloud Engineer12 Month Fixed Term ContractLocation: Home Based / Oxford (onsite 2 - 3 days a MONTH)Salary: £45,000 - £47,000 (+ on call, excellent benefits)Skills: Azure, Microsoft Entra ID, Conditional Access, Azure Automation Runbooks, PowerShell, Microsoft 365, Exchange Online,We are looking to recruit an Azure Cloud Engineer for a technology driven public sector organisation.This is a senior technical role focused on strengthening and modernising a Microsoft cloud environment. The organisation is looking for someone with strong hands-on Azure experience who can act as a technical escalation point, support cloud-first delivery, improve operational automation and help close key skills gaps across Microsoft Entra ID, Conditional Access and Azure automation.This is not a traditional on-prem infrastructure role with a small amount of cloud. The successful candidate will bring genuine Azure cloud engineering experience, ideally alongside a good understanding of hybrid Microsoft environments.This is a hybrid role and you will be required to work onsite at my client's office in Oxford 2 / 3 days in a month.Key responsibilities:Act as a senior technical specialist across Azure and Microsoft cloud servicesDesign, implement and support secure, scalable Azure cloud solutionsConfigure and improve Microsoft Entra ID, hybrid identity and Conditional Access policiesDevelop and maintain Azure Automation Runbooks to improve operational efficiencySupport the modernisation of legacy infrastructure into cloud-first servicesProvide technical assurance, documentation and best practice guidanceSupport Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online and related collaboration platformsWork across Azure services such as virtual machines, networking, DNS, storage, web apps, app gateways and load balancingSupport PKI, certificate services and wider infrastructure security requirementsContribute to disaster recovery, business continuity and service availability improvementsWork with internal teams, suppliers and stakeholders to deliver secure and resilient technology servicesMentor and support other engineers, acting as an escalation point for complex technical issuesEssential experience:Strong hands-on Azure cloud engineering experienceGood knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD and hybrid identityExperience creating or managing Conditional Access policiesExperience with Azure Automation Runbooks and PowerShell scriptingMicrosoft 365 / Exchange Online experienceUnderstanding of Azure networking, identity, security and governance principlesAbility to produce clear technical documentation and explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholdersExperience working in an operational environment with service improvement, incident/problem management and ITIL-style processesDesirable experience:PKI / certificate servicesAzure Virtual DesktopExchange on-prem to Exchange Online / hybrid ExchangeAzure cost managementPublic sector, policing or secure environment experienceActive Directory, Windows Server and broader Microsoft infrastructure experienceTPBN1_UKTJ
