Step into a newly defined data operations management position at the centre of a major data transformation. You'll lead a small, capable team responsible for the reliability, performance, and observability of modern data platforms that power decisions across a complex, regulated organisation.
This is a hands-on leadership role, part strategist, part problem-solver - shaping how data operations are delivered across a modern cloud environment (AWS and Azure). If you thrive on improving how data pipelines run, building resilient systems, and driving operational excellence, this is your chance to make a visible impact in a high-profile business.
What You'll Do
- Lead data operations and second line support to ensure data pipelines, platforms, and integrations run reliably with full observability and proactive monitoring.
- Optimise performance across Snowflake and connected data platforms, driving continuous improvement and automation.
- Define and embed support models and operational standards for new data products and APIs.
- Guide a small, experienced team, fostering autonomy and technical excellence.
- Influence how the business delivers data operations - collaborating with data engineering, governance, quality, and IT to shape the future operating model.
What You'll Bring
- Strong experience running and supporting data platforms or pipelines in production.
- Understanding of data flows, models, and warehousing principles - able to diagnose issues across systems without coding.
- Hands-on familiarity with platforms like Snowflake, Power BI, Alteryx, and modern observability tools.
- Working knowledge of AWS and/or Azure and how to run data workloads efficiently.
- A proven ability to lead a team and to manage and influence stakeholders across business and technology.
- Experience operating in a regulated or complex corporate environment.
Why This Role
- Play a key role in shaping a modern Data Operations function as part of a major transformation.
- Stay hands-on while developing leadership skills in a true DataOps environment.
- Enjoy a balanced hybrid model - two days per week in your local office (Liverpool or Glasgow) plus fully expensed travel between sites when needed.
- Join a forward-thinking organisation that values autonomy, technical credibility, and continuous improvement.
