DevSecOps Engineer
DevSecOps Engineer – Hampshire – 6 Month Contract 37.5 hours per week – £700 – £792 Inside – SC or DV Cleared
A DevSecOps Engineer is needed to support our client’s Defence Information Advantage team, improving secure end-to-end software delivery and deployment automation. The defence environment brings unique challenges—such as safely updating operational equipment—so they need someone innovative who can guide technical direction and mentor others. This role will use modern cloud and DevSecOps practices to speed up deployments and apply SRE principles to keep live systems reliable and highly available.
Working Patterns and location – Hybrid working with 3 days minimum on site per week.
The Key Responsibilities of a DevSecOps Engineer:
- Take part in agile ceremonies using Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe.
- Mentor the team on DevSecOps practices.
- Collaborate with product owners and developers to plan releases and build CI/CD pipelines.
- Partner with security teams to ensure solutions are secure from the start.
- Work with quality engineers to maintain high standards across all products.
- Implement updates and improvements to systems and services.
- Contribute to code reviews and technical discussions.
- Support live systems by diagnosing and fixing issues.
Below is a list of Key Skills required for DevSecOps Engineer, however you will not be expected to have everything:
As a DevSecOps Engineer, you’ll have a STEM degree or equivalent hands-on experience, along with skills across several of the following areas:
Cloud:
- Strong experience with AWS; Azure or GCP is a bonus.
Security:
- Vulnerability management and scanning tools (e.g., Tenable, SonarQube).
- IDAM solutions like Azure AD or Keycloak.
- Network security, certificates, and token management.
Containers & Virtualisation:
- Docker/Podman and Kubernetes.
- GPU containerisation (e.g., NVIDIA Toolkit, Run:AI).
Architectures:
- Microservices, serverless, edge computing.
- REST APIs, gRPC, Kafka, MQTT.
DevSecOps Tooling:
- Git and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI/CD).
- IaC tools like Terraform, Puppet, or Ansible.
- Linux scripting, plus languages such as Python or Rust.
- Monitoring and SRE tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and ElasticSearch.
