Infrastructure Engineer

Senior Infrastructure Engineer– Gloucestershire – Permanent (37.5 hours per week) – £45,000 - £50,000 per annum – SC Clearance

Our client are a medium sized consultancy looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to help support them on their IT systems.

You will act as a key member of the IT team to help continuously improve efficiency, you will need experience with Windows and Microsoft 365 application. Ensuring all software and Hardware are updated.

Working Patterns: This role is based full time on site in Gloucestershire

The Key Responsibilities of a Senior Infrastructure Engineer:

  • Ensuring all incidents raised by colleagues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Assuring all hardware and software is kept up to date and secure in accordance with stipulated guidelines, and system security is always maintained.
  • Producing and maintaining internal infrastructure documentation, processes and design.
  • Maintain backup and disaster recovery systems.
  • Identify and action process improvements.

Below is a list of Key Skills required for the Senior Infrastructure Engineer role, however you will not be expected to have everything:

  • Microsoft 365, including licensing and user management.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems and products in a networked environment.
  • Implementation and support of enterprise tools, including Active Directory Services, Patch Management, Microsoft Updates, Antivirus, Vulnerability Management, Backup Solutions.
  • Experience in firewall configuration and maintenance (e.g. Cisco, Negate, Palo Alto)
  • Experience of working with networking fundamentals including routing, switching, firewall, VLAN, NAT, VPN.
  • Strong Domain infrastructure knowledge (AD, AAD, DHCP, DNS, Group Policy Management, Radius, PKI).

Skills:

  • Proven problem-solving ability.
  • A strategic thinker, who can identify creative solutions.
  • Ability to prioritize conflicting tasks in a dynamic work environment.
  • Possess a proactive, positive attitude and respect for others.
  • You should have strong interpersonal skills, be a good team player and demonstrate excellent communication skills – both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of architecture process.

The client would also like to see some of the below, but this is not essential:

  • Exposure to Linux, Veeam Backup, DevOps CD and CI principles, ESET anti-virus, disk encryption (predominantly BitLocker) any would be an advantage.
