Junior Project Manager – Southampton – 6 Month Contract (37.5 hours per week) - upto £450 per day (Inside IR35) – SC or DV Clearance

Our client is a UK-based engineering consultancy specialising in applying science and technology to solve complex challenges for government and industry partners. They deliver innovative, end-to-end solutions across areas such as communications, sensors, and information security.
The role is for a Junior Project Manager, responsible for supporting the delivery of multiple small projects by managing schedules, tracking risks and issues, coordinating teams, and providing clear progress updates to ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope
Working Patterns and location – This is a hybrid role with 2 days on site per week.
The Key Responsibilities of a Junior Project Manager:
- Manage several small, short-term projects at once, making sure they stay on track and within budget
- Keep plans up to date, including timelines, milestones, and key dependencies
- Track risks and issues, put together mitigation plans, and escalate when needed
- Handle changes to scope, timelines, or costs in a controlled way
- Support team coordination, reporting, and overall project delivery, while gradually taking on more responsibility in larger projects
Below is a list of Key Skills required for a Junior Project Manager, however you will not be expected to have everything:
- Early-stage Project Manager with strong organisation and communication skills
- Good understanding of project governance, risk and issue management (RAID), and handling change
- Holds APM PFQ or willing to achieve it within 6 months
- Actively working towards APM PMQ qualification
