Transformation Consultant

Strategy & Transformation Consultant – Central Government– Bristol, London or Manchester – Permanent (37.5 hours per week) – £45,000 – £75,000 per annum – SC Clearance

As a Consultant/Senior Consultant/Manager, you will work alongside industry specialists to deliver impactful solutions for Central Government and defence clients. You will be involved in all stages of client engagements, from shaping strategy and designing solutions, to supporting supplier engagement and implementation. Your work will span design, operational, strategy, change, implementation and transformation activities, helping clients achieve their strategic goals.

Working Patterns: This is a hybrid role with 3 days per week on site.

The Key Responsibilities of a Strategy & Transformation Consultant – Central Government:

  • Supporting and leading the delivery of strategy and transformation projects for Central Government clients (DWP, FCDO, HMRC).
  • Conducting research and analysis to make strategic recommendations, using data-driven insights to support decision-making.
  • Shaping and implementing strategies as part of wider business transformation programmes.
  • Designing and iteratively implementing Operating Models to transform roles, teams, department or organisations.
  • Designing and facilitating workshops and meetings, engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Developing compelling presentations and reports that clearly articulate findings, recommendations, and impact.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with client stakeholders and third parties, acting as a trusted advisor.
  • Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams (including Digital, Innovation, Cyber, and Data specialists) to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Leading business case development, strategic options analysis, and evaluation of delivery models.
  • Mentoring and supporting junior team members, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment.
  • Contributing to business and practice development, including proposal writing and client presentations externally and upskilling internally.

Below is a list of Key Skills required for the Strategy & Transformation Consultant – Central Government, however you will not be expected to have everything:

  • Experience supporting or delivering transformation programmes, ideally within Public Sector, or wider government contexts.
  • A passion for Central Government, and for making a difference to the security prosperity of the UK.
  • Demonstrations of strategic thinking, hands-on problem-solving, and innovative approaches to strategic investment in UK Government.
  • Experience of working in a strategic role, supporting the design and implementation of future-focused solutions.
  • Understanding of relevant procurement regulations and public sector commercial practices.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to generate insights and recommendations.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders.
  • Strong project management disciplines, including working to strict deadlines and delivering high-quality outputs.
  • Ability to operate in ambiguous and rapidly changing environments.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in diverse teams and build strong professional relationships.
  • Consulting experience, or relevant industry experience in Central Government and/or the wider Public Sector, is desirable.
