Ecommerce Trading Manager - Tickets

The role

Day Out With The Kids is one of the UK’s leading family days out platforms, helping millions of families discover amazing attractions, experiences and things to do.

As we continue to grow our ticketing business, we’re looking for an experienced Ecommerce Trading Manager to take ownership of how tickets are merchandised, promoted and optimised across our platform.

This is a commercially focused ecommerce role.

You’ll be responsible for ensuring the right tickets receive the right exposure, at the right time, using customer behaviour, trading data, seasonality and commercial priorities to maximise bookings, revenue and conversion.

You’ll own the day-to-day trading performance of our ticket marketplace – from promotional planning and onsite merchandising through to product content, conversion optimisation and performance analysis.

What you'll own

Ecommerce trading & merchandising

Own the merchandising of ticketed attractions and experiences across Day Out With The Kids.

Plan and manage the annual ticket trading calendar around key periods including:

  • February Half Term
  • Easter
  • May Half Term
  • Summer
  • Bank Holidays
  • October Half Term
  • Halloween
  • Christmas
  • Weekends and school holidays

Determine which attractions and ticket products should receive additional exposure based on customer demand, performance, availability, commercial value and seasonality.

Manage ticket merchandising across areas such as:

  • Homepage
  • Attraction pages
  • Destination and regional pages
  • Category pages
  • Search and discovery
  • Seasonal content
  • Ticket modules and carousels
  • Email and marketing campaigns

Create and optimise merchandising concepts such as:

  • Most Popular
  • Trending
  • Best Sellers
  • Near You
  • Family Favourites
  • Seasonal Picks
  • New Tickets
  • Great for This Weekend
Commercial performance

Take responsibility for the commercial performance of ticket merchandising.

Regularly analyse:

  • Ticket bookings
  • Ticket revenue
  • Conversion rate
  • Click-through rate
  • Revenue per visitor
  • Attraction performance
  • Category performance
  • Regional performance
  • Device performance
  • Traffic source performance
  • Promotional placement performance

Identify opportunities to increase ticket sales and quickly spot underperforming products or areas of the customer journey.

Work closely with the wider commercial team to understand commission, revenue opportunities and key attraction partners.

Conversion rate optimisation

Continually improve the ticket purchase journey.

Analyse the customer funnel from discovery through to purchase and identify opportunities to increase conversion.

Optimise areas including:

  • Product imagery
  • Attraction descriptions
  • Ticket descriptions
  • USPs
  • Calls to action
  • Pricing presentation
  • Ticket options
  • Merchandising positions
  • Page hierarchy
  • Mobile experience

Develop and manage a programme of testing and optimisation, including A/B testing where appropriate.

You'll be expected to turn data into clear actions rather than simply reporting on performance.

Content optimisation

Ensure ticket products are presented in the strongest possible way to families.

Work with internal teams and attraction partners to improve product content and ensure listings are accurate, engaging and commercially effective.

Identify gaps in ticket content and prioritise improvements based on potential commercial impact.

Promotional planning

Build a rolling promotional calendar for ticketing.

Use factors including:

  • Seasonality
  • School holidays
  • Weather
  • Customer demand
  • Attraction popularity
  • New attraction launches
  • Major events
  • Ticket availability
  • Commercial partnerships

to determine what should be promoted and when.

Work closely with email, social, content, SEO and paid marketing teams to ensure ticketing opportunities are supported across DOWTK's wider marketing activity.

Reporting & insight

Create clear weekly and monthly trading reports covering ticket performance.

Provide actionable recommendations based on the data.

You'll be expected to answer questions such as:

  • What's selling particularly well this week?
  • What's stopped selling?
  • Which attractions are receiving traffic but not converting?
  • Which ticket products deserve more exposure?
  • What should we promote this weekend?
  • Which categories or destinations are growing?
  • Where are customers dropping out of the booking journey?
  • What changes could increase revenue?
