Head of Analytics at Day1data

  • Location: London (Hybrid - Holborn Office)
  • Employment type: full time

About Day1Data:

Day1Data is a fast-growing data analytics consultancy helping marketing and finance teams measure incrementality and make smarter commercial decisions. From marketing mix modelling and incrementality testing to forecasting, attribution, data infrastructure and AI-enabled analytics, we help companies understand what truly drives growth. We work with leading brands including Healf, PerfectTed, Global Media, Twilio, WorldRemit and Booksy.

Role overview:

We are looking for a Head of Analytics to lead and scale our analytics function. This is a senior leadership role, reporting directly into the Founder, with responsibility for the quality, direction and delivery of analytics work across Day1Data.

You will manage a team of three data scientists initially, with scope to grow the team over time. You will be responsible for setting the roadmap, shaping the team structure, improving processes, reviewing technical work and ensuring we deliver consistently excellent client outcomes. This is not a purely management role. You will still be hands-on technically, especially across marketing science, MMM, causal inference, incrementality testing, attribution and broader data science work. The ideal person is highly technical, commercially minded, organised, autonomous and excited by the opportunity to take ownership of an entire analytics function inside a fast-growing business.

Key responsibilities:

Analytics leadership & strategy

  • Own the analytics roadmap across Day1Data, including technical direction, service development, delivery quality and long-term team planning.
  • Define how the analytics function should scale, including who we need to hire, when we need to hire and how work should be allocated across the team.
  • Support the overall strategy of the business by identifying new opportunities, improving ways of working and helping shape future service lines.

Team management & development

  • Manage a team of three data scientists, supporting their workload, development, technical growth and day-to-day delivery.
  • Create structure, processes and standards that help the team work efficiently and consistently.
  • Help build a high-performance culture that balances quality, speed, ownership and commercial impact.
  • Support future hiring as the business grows, including role design, interviewing and onboarding.
  • Lead and contribute to technical work across marketing science, MMM, incrementality testing, attribution, forecasting, causal inference and broader data science.
  • Work across a range of client challenges, from marketing effectiveness and customer analytics to more bespoke data science and analytics projects.
  • Review code, models, assumptions, outputs and recommendations to ensure work is rigorous, explainable and actionable.

Client strategy & pitching

  • Support pitches and proposals by shaping the analytical solution, explaining methodology and building confidence with senior stakeholders.
  • Help ensure our work is not just technically strong, but clearly linked to commercial outcomes.

Process, operations & AI adoption

  • Improve the operating model of the analytics team, including delivery processes, QA, documentation, prioritisation and resource planning.
  • Explore and implement AI tools that can improve productivity, automation, speed, quality and scalability across the team.

What you’ll need:

  • Strong experience in analytics, data science or marketing science, ideally in a senior or leadership role.
  • Deep technical understanding of marketing science, including MMM, incrementality testing, causal inference, attribution and experimentation.
  • Strong broader data science capability, with the ability to work across varied client problems beyond marketing measurement.
  • Hands-on technical skills in Python and SQL.
  • Experience reviewing technical work, including models, code, assumptions, outputs and recommendations.
  • Experience managing or mentoring analysts, or data scientists.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex analytical topics clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage priorities, allocate resources and create scalable processes.
  • A high degree of autonomy, ownership and responsibility.
  • Interest in AI tools and how they can improve analytics delivery, productivity and quality.

What we offer:

  • Competitive salary (up to £100k)
  • Equity
  • Full ownership of the analytics function, including roadmap, strategy, planning, hiring and delivery quality.
  • The opportunity to manage and grow a high-performing technical team.
  • Hands-on work with leading brands across marketing science, data science and analytics.
  • The chance to help build the future of Day1Data as we scale.
