VP Engineering (Founding-Team Level)
Company Description
DealAxis is building the next-generation AI-enhanced operating system for dealmakers — a smart workflow and orchestration platform serving the private-markets, investing, and M&A ecosystems.
Today, deal execution and monitoring still rely on manual, repetitive processes spread across Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, and shared drives. Critical information is dispersed, continuity is difficult to maintain, and key insights can slip through the cracks. DealAxis replaces this patchwork with a unified, structured environment designed to improve clarity, consistency, and decision-making across the investment lifecycle.
Our approach blends workflow design rooted in deep private-markets experience with AI augmentation, enhancing efficiency while keeping humans firmly in the decision loop. Starting with core deal workflows, our ambition is to become the connected operating layer for private investments — supporting execution, oversight, and value creation in a coherent, modular system.
We are completing our MVP with a development partner and are now expanding our founding team to take the product from pilot to launch and scale.
Role Description
This is a full-time role for a VP Engineering (Founding-Team Level) who will take ownership of our technology roadmap and play a central role in building both the product and the engineering team around it. You will lead the development of the DealAxis platform, define and evolve its architecture, and drive the transition from outsourced MVP to in-house capability.
You will also set engineering best practices, provide technical leadership aligned with our strategic goals, and collaborate closely with product and domain stakeholders to design, build, and deliver scalable solutions. This role has significant influence on the future of the platform and the company.
What You'll Do
· Lead the architecture, infrastructure, and delivery of the DealAxis platform as we move from outsourced MVP to in-house capability.
· Build, mentor, and inspire a small, high-calibre engineering team, while being nimble and AI-native in finding efficient ways to build the product.
· Translate user feedback and pilot insights into product evolution.
· Make clear, independent build-versus-integrate decisions and define technical direction.
· Establish scalable engineering practices — CI/CD, QA, documentation, and release processes.
· Represent the technical vision in investor, client, and partner conversations.
What You'll Bring
· 7+ years of software engineering experience, including leadership in small or fast-growing teams.
· Proven ability to work independently, set direction, and deliver in a lean, entrepreneurial environment.
· Strong grasp of SaaS product development and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred).
· Experience with React, C#.NET, Postgres, or comparable modern stacks.
· Curiosity and insight into AI/ML applications and their potential in enterprise workflows.
· A thoughtful balance of strategic thinking and hands-on execution.
Who You Are
You’re proactive, motivated, and take ownership naturally. You combine energy and hunger with the ability to think independently and deliver without constant direction. You thrive on solving real problems and want your work to shape something lasting.
What we Offer
• A founding-team-level role with meaningful influence over the product and technology direction.
• A starting annual salary of ~£80-140k, depending on experience and fit.
• Equity participation aligned with early-stage impact and contribution.
• Significant scope for growth and expanded leadership as the company scales.
• Remote-first structure with flexibility and trust; regular collaboration sessions in London.
• The opportunity to work with a team with deep domain expertise in private markets and M&A, complemented by strong capabilities in AI, product development, and successful scale-up to exit.
• A dynamic environment where initiative, curiosity, and accountability are valued over hierarchy.
