Business Management Support Consultant
Business Support ConsultantDigital Infrastructure - Banking SectorFully Onsite in London EC2Y6-Month Contract (Inside IR35)£500 - £590pd to Umbrella
Join the Digital Infrastructure function of a leading international banking group in a pivotal governance and business support role. You will be the "glue" across spend, resource, vendor and risk activities, enabling senior leaders to make informed decisions and keep critical services running smoothly.
Working fully onsite at the bank's EMEA HQ in London, you will pull together information from product owners, PMs and vendors, challenge where needed, and translate detailed input into clear, business-focused summaries for leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Business Support lead and department head with operational governance across spend, resource, vendor and risk.
- Coordinate spend governance: track and reconcile spend requests, align to budget and policy, and compile clear Excel packs for internal spend review meetings.
- Maintain and update resource trackers, working with PMs and product owners to resolve under/over-allocation and support headcount and cost control.
- Support vendor governance by coordinating inputs on service health, SLAs/KPIs, renewals and risks, and highlighting potential business impact.
- Produce simple but high-quality governance and operational reports (primarily Excel/PowerPoint) that answer: what is needed, why, current position, and impact if not approved.
- Carry out process and admin activities such as updating org charts, drafting job specs, maintaining trackers and scheduling/hosting governance meetings, while adding insight rather than simply "ticking boxes".
Key Skills / Requirements
- Experience in governance-focused business support, PMO, COO or business management roles, ideally within large, structured organisations (financial services or similar).
- Strong stakeholder and relationship management skills, confident engaging with senior managers/directors and able to challenge constructively.
- Proven experience supporting budget/spend and/or resource governance, including maintaining accurate trackers and providing decision-ready information.
- Comfortable in an admin/process-heavy role but uses initiative: able to probe for missing information, question assumptions and rewrite technical/detail-heavy input into clear, concise business language.
- Strong Excel skills (tracking, reconciliations) and confident with PowerPoint and Word for packs, documentation and org charts.
- Exposure to technology or infrastructure/service management environments is highly desirable; you do not need to be technical but should be able to learn and understand where products/services sit within the infrastructure stack.
This role would suit candidates from PMO, COO/business management, operations governance, or similar business support positions who enjoy detailed operational work, stakeholder engagement and making governance "work" day to day.
If you're ready to bring structure, challenge and clarity to a busy technology infrastructure function, please apply for consideration.
