Software Engineer

Front-End React Developer

Colchester - Hybrid - 1 day / week in Office

We're hiring a React Developer to help modernise and build the front-end of a next-generation claims and repair management platform. You'll play a key role in transforming an existing .NET/WPF codebase into a scalable, cloud-ready React application used across the insurance industry.

This role suits an engineer with a solid grounding in React and TypeScript, who enjoys building clear, reliable interfaces and collaborating closely with Product, Design and Backend teams. It's a great opportunity to join a growing company early, shape a product from the ground up, and have real influence on technical decisions.

What You'll Do:

  • Build and iterate on new product features in React + TypeScript, including dashboards, workflows, and data-rich UI components.
  • Integrate with .NET REST APIs and event-driven endpoints, ensuring robust error handling, caching, and data management.
  • Contribute to the modernisation of our existing WPF/XML front-end, helping transition to a scalable React architecture.
  • Write maintainable, testable code using Jest, React Testing Library, and Storybook.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, and Backend teams to define requirements, scope, and technical solutions.
  • Improve front-end performance, accessibility, and usability, applying pragmatic patterns for state and data handling.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows in Azure DevOps, contributing to efficient delivery and releases.

What We're Looking For:

  • 3+ years of experience building production React applications with TypeScript.
  • Strong understanding of UI engineering fundamentals — accessibility, form handling, and component design.
  • Confident integrating REST APIs and working with async data-fetching libraries like React Query or SWR.
  • Experience writing unit and integration tests (Jest, React Testing Library).
  • Pragmatic approach to state management, performance, and code organisation.
  • Clear communicator who enjoys working collaboratively in an agile team.

Bonus points for:

  • Experience modernising legacy front-ends (e.g. from WPF/XML to React).
  • Familiarity with Azure AD/MSAL/OIDC, or experience in workflow-heavy domains like insurance or claims management.
  • Knowledge of design systems or working with Storybook.

Make a direct impact on modernising a core claims platform while working in a collaborative, flexible environment.
