Forward Deployed Engineer

Job Title: Forward Deployed Engineer

Employment Type: Full time

Duration: Permanent

Location: London (Temple) – Hybrid 3 - 4 days in office

Start Date: Immediate

We are hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer with strong fundamentals and meaningful production experience. This is a Python-first role focused on building well-designed, reliable software. You will help evolve a proven prototype into a robust platform that operates cleanly across a range of client environments.

Our systems transform unstructured contractual documents into structured, machine-readable data. The work sits at the intersection of data engineering, system design, and practical MLOps. The emphasis is on writing clear, maintainable code, building stable pipelines, and ensuring predictable, observable behaviour in production across client environments.

What You'll Do

  • Build code that gets deployed across multiple client environments and keep it consistent, stable, and easy to update.
  • Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders about system behaviour, trade-offs, risks, and timelines.
  • Build and maintain production-grade Python services for document ingestion, transformation, and structured output.
  • Design components and pipelines that are modular, testable, and straightforward to operate.
  • Work with the Head of Product to develop a clear, maintainable architecture for the core platform.
  • Work inside client systems when needed, adapting deployments to cloud, hybrid, or on-prem setups.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and automation to support regular releases.
  • Write solid tests, add validation checks, and maintain the systems that keep the platform stable between versions.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience building and operating production Python systems, with strong depth in the language.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, testing, deployment, and monitoring, particularly in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Proven ability to write clean, modular, well-structured code that can be deployed, maintained, and extended across multiple environments.
  • Experience working with data pipelines or data model-driven systems in production, including versioning, validation, monitoring, and reproducible deployments.
  • Familiarity with MLOps practices as they apply to real production systems rather than research prototypes.
  • Experience working across cloud, hybrid, and on-prem environments, often within client-managed infrastructure for corporate customers.
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, client-driven environments, shaping work, proposing pragmatic solutions, and taking ownership end to end.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to present complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical clients and to work through evolving requirements in live engagements.

Bonus Points

  • Past work shipping AI or data-heavy systems into production.
  • Background in small, product-focused engineering team.
  • Experience with semantic or graph technologies (RDF, JSON-LD, Neo4j, Neptune etc.).
  • Exposure to ontology or schema alignment in complex domains.
