The Fixed Income and Currencies (FIC) business is a $7bn global franchise within Deutsche Bank's Investment Bank. It is highly technology-dependent, demanding low latency, high scale, and exceptional availability. The FIC Technology Production team ensures the operational stability of this business-critical environment.

This senior leadership role will report to the Head of FIC Production & Reliability Engineering. You will spearhead the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) function across FIC Technology-defining and executing the strategic vision- while remaining embedded in managing and accountable for day-to-day production stability in the Rates & Credit business.

You will be responsible for the resilience, scalability, and performance of mission-critical trading and risk systems-particularly within the Rates & Credit business-while also influencing SRE practices across FX, Repo, Emerging Markets, Listed Derivatives and other Core Platforms.

You will work closely with senior business and technology stakeholders to shape the future of Production Engineering, while remaining deeply engaged in the technical architecture, stability, incident response, and automation efforts that underpin our trading platforms.

Your key responsibilities
  • Define and drive the SRE strategy across FIC Technology, aligning reliability goals with business priorities and regulatory expectations
  • Lead the transformation of production support into a proactive, data-driven engineering discipline focused on automation, observability, and continuous improvement
  • Stay close to the technology-reviewing architecture, contributing to tooling, and leading by example in incident response and root cause analysis
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior trading, risk, and technology leaders, ensuring transparency, alignment, and shared accountability for platform health
  • Develop and mentor high-performing SRE aligned individuals, fostering a culture of ownership, innovation, and engineering excellence
Your skills and experience
  • Proven experience leading SRE or Production Engineering functions in complex, high-availability environments-ideally within capital markets
  • Advanced proficiency in Linux/Unix systems, SQL, and programming languages such as C++, Java or Python. Strong understanding of distributed systems and low-latency architectures
  • Hands-on experience with observability stacks (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Geneos, OpenTelemetry) and infrastructure automation (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines)
  • Strong understanding of the trade lifecycle, market data, and fixed income products, FX or algorithmic trading experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with hybrid cloud environments, Kubernetes, Docker, and modern deployment practices
  • Expertise in incident management, post-mortem culture, change governance, and risk frameworks in regulated environments
