BI Consultant
We are seeking an experienced BI Developer to join an established organisation on an initial three-month contract, with the potential to extend.
Please note this role requires onsite attendance 3-5 days per week in Watford and has been deemed outside IR35.
You will develop and enhance Power BI dashboards within a Microsoft Fabric environment, supporting reporting, data analysis and visualisation requirements across the business.
Key responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards within Microsoft Fabric.
- Translate business requirements into clear, actionable visualisations.
- Standardise existing dashboards and prepare them for client release.
- Develop and support CI/CD pipelines for Fabric deployments.
- Build and maintain data models, semantic layers and datasets.
- Analyse data to identify trends, quality issues and reporting gaps.
- Work with technical and non-technical stakeholders to gather requirements and refine dashboard designs.
- Ensure reports and datasets meet data governance, security and quality standards.
- Document data pipelines, dashboard logic and deployment processes.
- Provide knowledge transfer and handover documentation.
Essential experience
- Strong hands-on Power BI experience, including DAX and data modelling.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse, Dataflows, Pipelines and semantic models.
- Experience implementing CI/CD practices for Fabric or Power BI deployments, ideally using Azure DevOps.
- Strong data analysis and data visualisation skills.
- Ability to identify data-quality issues and translate findings into reporting requirements.
- Confident communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and deliver within tight contract timescales.
Desirable experience
- SQL and wider Azure data-platform technologies.
- Experience working with external delivery partners on Microsoft Fabric implementations.
Contract details
- Initial three-month contract with potential to extend.
- Immediate start; candidates available at short notice will be prioritised.
- Hybrid working, with a minimum of three days per week on-site in Watford.
- Rate negotiable depending on experience.
