Python Developer
We are supporting an Investment Bank, based in Glasgow with a Python Developer role.
You will focus on building and maintaining automated solutions for end-to-end (E2E) flows, ensuring robust deployment and operational excellence across our engineering landscape.
For this role, you will need to be able to demonstrate experience writing, extending, and maintain code at a developer's proficiency level, with Python.
- Role: Python Developer
- Day rate: £450 per day (inside IR35)
- Pay framework: Umbrella Company
- Start date: ASAP
- End Date: Currently April 2027 (with scope to extend)
- Location: Glasgow – 4 days onsite, 1 day working from home
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality, scalable Python applications, services, and automation solutions.
- Build and maintain robust E2E automation flows covering critical application and engineering processes.
- Develop reusable automation frameworks, libraries, tooling, and supporting utilities.
- Integrate automated E2E solutions into CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows.
- Ensure automation solutions are reliable, maintainable, scalable, and easy to operate.
- Develop automated validation and testing strategies to improve release confidence and software quality.
- Work with engineering teams to identify opportunities for increased automation and reduced manual intervention.
- Troubleshoot complex issues across application, automation, infrastructure, and deployment layers.
- Contribute to improvements in deployment reliability, observability, resilience, and operational support.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards, design decisions, and best practices.
- Collaborate with developers, QA engineers, DevOps, architects, and other technical stakeholders in an Agile delivery environment.
Essential skills
- Experience in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, high-quality applications and services.
- Practical expertise with automation technologies such as Playwright and/or Selenium.
- Experience building and maintaining reusable automation frameworks and tooling.
- Good understanding of API-driven architectures, microservices and distributed systems.
- Exposure to cloud-native development and containerisation technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.
- Strong understanding of software design principles, code quality, testing strategies and engineering best practices.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues across application, infrastructure, and automation layers.
- Experience working in Agile delivery environments with cross-functional engineering teams.
