Cloud & Security Engineer

Salary: £50,000 - £70,000 with potential some room for the right candidate.

I’m working with a high-performing organisation that is growing its in-house technology team and looking for a GCP Platform & Security Engineer to help support, secure and optimise its cloud environment.

This is a hands-on role across Google Cloud Platform, cloud security and DevOps. You’ll work alongside wider technical teams, helping make sure applications and services are secure, reliable and running efficiently.

Tech environment: GCP, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, BigQuery, Firestore, Cloud Storage, Docker, Cloud Build, Artifact Registry, Git, Python, Node.js/TypeScript, IAM, VPC, Zero Trust and FinOps.

What you’ll be doing

✅ Supporting and maintaining a growing GCP environment

✅ Managing cloud security controls, including IAM, VPC and access management

✅ Supporting serverless/containerised services such as Cloud Run and Cloud Functions

✅ Helping ensure applications are well-architected, reliable and secure

✅ Monitoring and optimising cloud spend

✅ Working across GCP, some on-premise systems and wider security tooling

✅ Supporting good DevOps and security practices across the technical team

What they’re looking for

✅ Hands-on experience in cloud engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, DevSecOps or cloud security

✅ Good knowledge of GCP services

✅ Understanding of cloud security principles, including IAM, VPC and secure access

✅ Docker/containerisation experience

✅ Understanding of HTTP, DNS and APIs

✅ Practical, proactive approach to problem-solving

✅ Good communication skills and ability to work with wider technical teams
