Project Manager

Data Migration Project Manager

Permanent · Remote-first · Competitive salary · Occasional travel to client sites

The Challenge

DigX is running a large-scale platform transformation and needs an experienced Data Migration Project Manager to own the migration workstream from end to end. This means taking the migration plan from source analysis through to cutover — coordinating people, sequencing, and quality gates to ensure data lands safely. We're looking for a Project Manager who brings hands-on Life and Pensions experience (minimum 3 years) and who has run multi-wave migrations in a structured programme environment.

This is a permanent role. You're joining to lead migration delivery and staying to see it through stabilisation and beyond. This is a role you can grow with — we invest in our people for the long term.

What You'll Own as our Project Manager

  • Run multi-stage data migrations into a consolidated target platform — profiling sources, managing mapping and transformation rules, coordinating cleansing, running rehearsal cycles, and executing cutover.
  • Build and maintain migration run-books, wave sequencing plans, and rollback strategies so that every migration event is controlled and repeatable.
  • Work with business SMEs from the Life and Pensions domain to resolve mapping conflicts, validate transformation logic, and obtain sign-off at each readiness gate.
  • Manage dependencies between migration waves and parallel integration delivery across Azure and Microsoft cloud components.
  • Sit close enough to the solution design to challenge assumptions and surface risks before they become blockers — without needing to build anything yourself.
  • Coordinate go-live readiness across data, environments, integration, and support teams, then see it through stabilisation.
  • Report migration progress, risks, and decisions to programme leadership clearly and without unnecessary noise.

You'll Thrive Here If...

  • You have 3+ years of hands-on Life and Pensions experience and understand the data structures, regulatory context, and business complexity of the sector.
  • You've managed data migration projects end-to-end — ideally multi-wave, involving legacy decommission or platform consolidation within a Life and Pensions environment.
  • You have a solid understanding of the migration lifecycle: profiling, mapping, transformation, reconciliation, rehearsal, cutover.
  • You can read data models, mapping specs, and ETL/ELT designs well enough to know when something doesn't add up.
  • You have a track record of coordinating data engineers, architects, business SMEs, and third-party vendors through structured delivery.
  • You bring strong RAID, dependency, and sequencing management across concurrent workstreams.
  • Your communication works for both technical teams and senior stakeholders — no unnecessary noise, just clarity.
  • You operate with independence and judgement: you challenge delivery leads when things aren't on track, and you escalate with clarity rather than waiting to be asked.

Why This Role Matters

  • Life and Pensions at the core — your sector knowledge shapes how we manage data risk, govern migrations, and engage business stakeholders in a regulated environment.
  • Migration work that matters — multi-source, multi-wave data programmes where your planning directly determines whether the programme lands.
  • Architecture-led clarity — established technical patterns and experienced architects, so the Project Manager is managing delivery, not guessing at design.
  • Independence, not micromanagement — you'll operate autonomously, with the trust and authority to challenge, escalate, and shape how the programme runs.
  • Remote-first, on-site when it counts — work remotely by default, with occasional travel to client sites when being in the same room genuinely makes things better.
  • Career progression — support to move into senior delivery, migration lead, or data architecture pathways.
