⚙️ Modern Tech Stack: Azure Fabric, PowerBI, DAX, SQL, Lakehouse architecture

The Opportunity:

A growing Microsoft-partner data consultancy is hiring a Lead BI Engineer to anchor their BI practice technically. You will move across client environments, gathering requirements quickly, shaping reporting estates from the ground up, and holding your own with senior stakeholders, while mentoring the engineers behind you.

The right person has spent recent years working across multiple clients, adapting to different platforms and maturity levels, and designing how a BI environment should be built rather than inheriting one that already exists.

Role / Responsibilities:

  • Shape BI environments end to end: semantic layer design, deployment pipelines, and reporting estate architecture from scratch
  • Own the technical lead on client engagements: running discovery workshops, producing solution designs, and managing stakeholder relationships
  • Work across Azure Fabric, Synapse, Databricks, and Lakehouse architectures
  • Drive BI engineering standards: DAX optimisation, data modelling, CI/CD practices
  • Mentor and develop BI Engineers: raising the technical bar across the team while staying hands-on

Who We're Looking For:

  • Consultancy background is required. You must have recent, sustained experience working across multiple client environments — Microsoft partners, data consultancies, or large-scale transformation programmes. Applications without this background will not be progressed.
  • BI architecture and design capability is required. You have set up reporting estates, designed semantic models, and defined how a BI environment should be structured. Experience building reports inside an existing internal setup does not meet this bar.
  • Client confidence is required. You can walk into a new environment, get up to speed quickly, ask the right questions, and present solutions credibly to both business and technical stakeholders without support.
  • Deep Power BI and Fabric expertise including semantic layer ownership, governance, deployment pipelines, and platform-level configuration
  • Strong SQL and DAX skills with a track record of optimising reporting performance, not just authoring measures

The Company:

  • Modern stack only, no legacy-heavy environments or tech debt to navigate
  • Quality over volume, well-architected and scalable solutions, not conveyor-belt delivery
  • Real investment in L&D, certifications, industry events, and internal knowledge sharing
  • Collaborative, low-ego culture with a focus on delivering real client value
