DevOps Engineer AWS

Contract: Permanent

WFH: Remote (One office visit per month)

Location: Manchester, UK

Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 (DOE)

I'm seeking a DevOps Engineer to help maintain and improve a multi-tenant cloud platform used across a large customer base. You’ll focus on reliability, automation, incident response, and improving deployment processes. This is a hands-on engineering role working across AWS, Terraform, Linux, and monitoring tools, while also supporting and mentoring a junior team member.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the stability, performance, and availability of 45+ cloud deployments
• Improve and modernise the Terraform-based deployment/update process
• Troubleshoot incidents, run post-mortems, and refine operational workflows
• Automate manual tasks using Linux, shell scripting, Terraform, and Ansible
• Support and mentor a junior engineer, providing structure and technical guidance
• Streamline AWS account provisioning and strengthen identity/permission models

Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with AWS and Terraform
• Solid Linux administration and scripting skills
• Confident troubleshooting, debugging, and handling incidents independently
• Experience with containerised workloads (Docker/ECS) and Git-based workflows

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with Ansible
• Exposure to observability tooling (Nagios, Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus)
• Knowledge of AWS Control Tower or Identity Centre
• Experience in improving or automating multi-deployment environments
