Main duties of the job

As a Senior Delivery Manager, you will play a central role in ensuring that product is successfully delivered on time, within scope and in line with strategic objectives. You will manage the Primary Care Operational Team, working closely with stakeholders across NHS Wales, suppliers, and internal teams to drive progress, overcome delivery challenges and embed agile ways of working to deliver continuous improvement and quality outcomes.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of complex digital product deliverywithin Primary Care.

  • Champion and embed new ways of working, driving Agile practices and fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

  • Manage project timelines, risks, and dependencies to ensure successful outcomesandmaintaindelivery confidence.

  • Engage with stakeholders at all levels,buildingstrong relationships andensuringclearand transparentcommunication.

  • Provide leadership and support toProductDeliveryteams, ensuring adherence to governance,complianceand best practice.

  • Monitor and report on progress,providingaccurateupdates andescalating issues where necessarytomaintainmomentum and resolve challenges promptly.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential
  • Experience of Agile and Lean Practices
  • Experience of supporting multi-disciplinary teams in the delivery of digital products and services
Desirable
  • Knowledge of NHS Wales or the Health sector.

Experience

Essential
  • Prior experience in a delivery management role, supporting multi-disciplinary teams in the delivery of digital products and services, throughout the product life cycle.
  • Experience of coaching teams to apply a user centred focus and to deliver to service standards.
  • Aware of the collaborative approach consisting of agile practices, processes, and procedures designed to facilitate rapid IT service and product delivery.
Desirable
  • Commercial and financial management experience to oversee budgets and commercial contracts

Essential
  • Initiative skills to be proactive, anticipating opportunities for systems, service or product improvement or development and taking appropriate action(s).
  • Flexibility skills to take account of new information or changed circumstances and/or business requirements and modifying response to a problem or situation accordingly.
  • Analytical Thinking skills to acquire a proper understanding of a problem or situation by breaking it down systematically into its component parts and identifying the relationships between these parts. Selecting the appropriate method/tool to resolve the problem and reflecting critically on the result, so that what is learnt is identified and assimilated.
Desirable
  • Welsh Language skills are desirable to levels 1 in understanding, speaking, reading and writing in Welsh
