Senior Interaction Designer
Job summary
This is a new opportunity to join a Secondary Healthcare product team and become part of the User Centred Design community at Digital Health and Care Wales, where we're making digital a force for good in health and care.
As Senior Interaction Designer you will work out the best way to let users interact with services, in terms of both overall flow and at the level of individual design.

You will be a confident and competent designer who can develop designs based on evidence of user needs and organisational outcomes.

Putting the user at the heart of your design process, you will have the technical knowledge and experience to create, test and iterate prototype digital products (mobile & web).

At this role level, you will be trusted to make good decisions and contribute to the development of design concepts, interpret evidence-based research, and incorporate this into your work.
Main duties of the job
- Take a lead in the User-Centred Design Community of Practice and the development of others in your job family.
o Approach prototyping as a team activity, actively soliciting prototypes, and testing with others.
o Establish design patterns and iterate them.
o Champion user research to focus on all users and make decisions to meet user needs in the context of NHS Wales.

Qualifications and Knowledge
- oA Master's degree in an associated professional field (or equivalent qualification / experience).
- oPractical experience, working at this level in interaction design, across a range of products and services.
- oEvidence of continuous professional development.
- oTheoretical and specialist knowledge, gained with the following certifications (or equivalent): oBCS Practitioner Certificate in Systems Design. oBCS Foundation Certificate in Agile.
- oKnowledge of the NHS, other healthcare systems, or the health sector, including regional or national variations.
Experience
- oExperience working in an interaction design role on large digital transformation programmes, designing and improving digital services in line with project and design guidelines.
- oExperience creating clear and accessible user journeys, wireframes, prototypes, and detailed designs using tools such as Figma.
- oExperience collaborating effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders to develop practical design solutions that balance user needs with business goals.
- oProficient in the application of design principles to ensure systems are usable, accessible, and effective for people with diverse abilities and contexts.
- oProficient in using ethical methods to design, collect, analyse, and report data for diverse users and markets.
- oProficient in developing and testing prototypes to reduce risk and ensure solutions meet user and organisational needs.
- oProficient in the planning, management the execution of tests throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure service quality and user satisfaction
- oAware of DevOps culture and its role in enhancing collaboration between development and operations to support continuous delivery.
- oProficient in applying Agile methods and practices, enabling teams to deliver valuable products in small, manageable steps.
